I love all the confidence from Logan, wouldn't have it any other way. I agree Jackson is the better team.

Because beat D3 Chillicothe gained you their points...but the only points they have are there "we are D3 points".....Warren gave you more of those for your 2nd level and so did Gallia.....but depending on who they beat that is only about 15 points....where as a team right behind you beats a 2-2 team and that in itself will match your points and if any of there other wins won...they pass you.

Athens has no worry if they go on to only lose to NY.....they get about a 5 seed...they lose 2 and it'll be close.

Athens played a decent game and came away with the win tonight. The score wasn't quite as close as it looks, Waverly capitalized on a bad punt snap to score their first TD, had a good drive to start the second half for their second TD and their varsity scored on our jv with about three minutes to go for their final TD. Athens didn't play star running back Devon Sharp after the second series of the 3rd qtr. and I'm not really sure why, he was still kicking off and looked healthy. Another quality performance was turned in by the Bulldog defense and the offense finally showed more balance than we've had the last couple of weeks. Good win Bulldogs, up next Meigs.

A-Town--

The Bulldogs coaching staff was most likely comfortable at that point in the game and my guess is they wanted to get him out of their so he didn't get hurt. He is very important to the offense. I'm pretty sure Sharp didn't want to come out, but sometimes we have to just understand our coaches moves even if we don't like them so much...I know that it ate me up a lot my Senior year and a lot of our Seniors because we didn't get to play much in the 2nd half of more than half of our games...

Good Win, Avoided the Trap..."Just Win Baby!"

QM, I don't think is was to keep him away from injury, the score was only 24-14 at that point and definately wasn't out of reach. I believe he didn't play after he made a long run that resulted in multiple personal fouls on both sides during the tackle on the sideline and they may have just put him in the cooler to avoid an ejection and suspension scenereo. The officiating in the second half was...well we'll just call it shaky.

Sharp was taken out I believe because of some cheap shots that were being thrown and you can only take so much. And yes it was to keep him healthy and to avoid being a target of getting ejected and not being able to play the next game. Overall good win for the Bulldogs, Great to see Skinner open up a little bit and get the passing game going. Sharp 17 car. 167 yds in just basically two quarters. We have a good number of skill players who do a lot, lets keep it moving DOGS.......

Are the Tigers looking at a 1-9 or 2-8 best case?

A-town and blubomber89,
I'd say you are correct about the reason he came out, it was after the incident on the sideline. Not sure what you're talking about cheap shots but from our standpoint (high above the crowd) he was the one who dished out the personal foul. A great running back who didn't need to do that.

Athens has a very good team who should compete for the league title. Schwartzel (spelling ??) is one big hitter and Skinner does a nice job running the offense. We didn't see the wildcat, I'm sure league opponents will.

smurray, I spoke to the kid personally and there were things going on that occur often in games and it wasn't pleasent and if you take it so many times you kinda of react, but in no way should that ever happen and I don't condone it either but it happens. And the pesonal foul came after he was tackled when already out of bounds and that was the third time that it happned along with a couple of face mask that occured, but like I said it goes on in games and he needs to stay focused and keeps his head. I don't think any of the things were intentional at all, justthe game of football.

Athens scored with 3 seconds remaining to make it 42-21.
Just curious, but why is Athens still trying score with 3 seconds left in the game and up by 14 points? Why not just take a knee and end it? Is there bad blood between these teams or coaches? The paper said it was a 14 yard run, so I don't understand the reasoning behind scoring in that situation.

Can someone explain?

BurgGrad,
both teams had their 2nd teams in so no-one took it wrong as far as I know.

Okay, thanks. I still think you take a knee in that situation though.

I have to agree with Burg77.

When your up by 14 points with 3 second to play and at the 12 yard line why not take a knee? It would have been a nice gesture of sportsmanship. I thought all coaches had figured that out by now.

I'm not sure if they were first or second team players but there sure were a bunch of dirty uniforms still playing for Athens on the last drive. Waverly was all second team.

Total BS! Athens called off the dogs and played our second team defense with like 6 minutes to go and Waverly kept in their first team offense and scored, knowing that Athens had backed off they still attempted an onside kick which was recovered by the Tigers forcing Athens to play our starting defense again. The Bulldog defense forced a turnover a couple of plays later and the JV offense returned to the field with the muddy jerseys they were wearing on defense. The bottom line is when Athens backed off Waverly tried to take advantage of the Bulldogs and score cheap points on our JV, Athens showed their displeasure by alowing the JV to run plays instead of taking a knee. It was a 14 yard run with the clock running by the way, it's not like we called a timeout on the goal line to punch one in.
