Week 2 Marietta 1-0 @ Parkersburg 0-1
Re: Week 2 Marietta 1-0 @ Parkersburg 0-1
Glad to see this series renewed.
According to the radio, this will be the 96th game in the series that started back in 1906.
Rooting for the Tigers but I think the Big Reds win a tight one.

The Parkersburg running back might be good, but he's still competing against West Virginia schools. And he's playing for a West Virginia school. That in my mind automatically gives Marietta the upper hand. Unless Parkersburg has improved 180 degrees since last year, they shouldn't do much.

westbrook18, why o why do you throw gas on the flame? Yeah its WVa, but a quality player is a quality player no matter where he plays. This kid can flat play period. I am a Ohio guy and will root for the Ohio team. But this guy will get his yards. This will be the first real test for the Tigers "D". I am sure the staff will have them as prepared as they can. However I am sure they would appreciate it if... well lets say, that maybe, just maybe, there wasn't someone out there giving PHS, well lets say shots that would, lets say ahhhh not ahhh well ahhh just make them ahhh play just alittle ahhh with ahhh alittle more incentive and get ahhh alittle more fired up than they will already be. I am pretty sure they have seen film of the Morgan game and have been preparing for the Tiger "O" and the Tiger running back, but I have not seen any Big Red fan showing him lets say dis-respect. Because PHS knows exactly how far back (98 years) and have been told exactly how important this game is. PHS is a solid program and deserves the respect that is due them. So maybe, just maybe it would be to go Ready, Aim, Fire, not Fire, Ready, Aim. Just a suggestion, no insult or disrespect intended, just a observation. Nothin wrong with supporting you alma mater, it is great to stay loyal, but not always the wisest thing to just flat out insult your opponent.

I think Marietta should be very concerned about their DEFENSE tonight...they let Morgan score 3 times, what do you think Parkersburg will do with that explosive offense?? Look for an offensive shootup, with very little defense...
Marietta - 52
Parkersburg - 45
Marietta - 52
Parkersburg - 45

schenk11 exactly, It is a shame that this rivalery was discontinued. At the time the Tigers were down and were getting beaten regualary, if memory serves me. In the past ten years I think the Tigers could play with the Big Reds and can tonight. I look for a shootout and with my fellow Washington Countyains the best. Play hard, play fair and play to win. Its hard to say this but, Go Tigers...

7072 I think you should slow down and actually take the time to comprehend what you read. I said he was good. But that competing in West Virginia obviously isn't anything like Ohio, despite the outcome of the game lastnight. Ohio is just more competitive, I wasn't knocking Parkersburg. Then I went on to say unless they've improved 180 degrees since last year, which it seems they have. So lets just say ahhhh.

Re: Week 2 Marietta 1-0 @ Parkersburg 0-1
westbrookk18 you obvoiusly see only what you want to see and you shoot from the lip, I have been reading you posts for quite a long time. What I saisd was spot on, yes, you agitate the opponent for any sport and any game. But you never come out and just say well ahhh we got whupped, and the Tigers to my dismay as well on friday, well was ahh, on the short end of the stick. So before you get back on here and fire, ready, aim. I did not say the tigers got whupped last firday, did not see the game, but they have gotten whupped in the past, Jackson and Logan have several times put a solid thumping on the tigers for example, and you just keep shooting. You don't see where schenk11 gets on here and runs off at the head. He gives credit where credit is due no matter who the opponant is. The players from all over the area read these sights. You did give the Big Red player a slam by saying its just W Va. and Ohio is more competative. While what you said does have merit. Ohio has over 1,500 high schools, its called population, W Va. has mayber 200 (Just A guess). I would like to point out to you that the Parkersburg area has produced far more DI football players than our area of Ohio. I meant no dis-respect or insult just a some solid advice on throwing fuel on the flame might be well taken. I however see that I was just spitting into the wind, trying to get you to see the light is like seeing a polar bear in a blizzard, impossible. So I will leave you to continue to give all the Tiger opponents something extra to bring to the game and make things just a tiny bit tougher. So, I am done and will leave you to continue on your merry way. Good luck to the Tigers, except week 5, I am sure that Coach Schob and his staff will impress to the players to respect all, fear none. Happy Trails To You, I am done and will make this my last commment to you on the topic of feeding the flame.

If you are talking about Washington Co. you may be correct but didn't Marietta have a player go on to the NFL? If you are talking about southeastern ohio then you need to re-think your statement about PHS having more D1 players. Teams like Portsmouth just sent one to Penn State (whose brother was 1st team all american there) and Ironton has had Big Ten players, Chilli has some playing, all SEOAL teams, all in the same league as Marietta. Also none of those schools have the number of students that PHS has so I think we can put to rest the argument or WV and Ohio and even in SEO who has produced more.

Thanks for the update. So Washington Co is represented quite well along with all SEO.
