Re: Week 2 1-0 Athens @ 0-1 Federal Hocking
Alright, Gameday is just a few days away so now I can comment...
THE ATHENS BULLDOGS (1-0) vs. THE FEDERAL HOCKING LANCERS (0-1)
Athens comes into the game on an high after an impressive (21-0) victory over the host Gallia Academy Blue Devils, once an annual league foe...
Federal Hocking comes into the game on a low after getting shellacked (49-0) by Monroe Central...
Can Athens hand Federal Hocking a 2nd shut-out to improve to (2-0)?
Will the Lancers score their 1st Touchdown of the 2009 season?
Athens, coming into the game (1-0) for the 1st time since '03 has to be the favorite in the game after their contest vs. Gallia last week. However, Federal Hocking defeated Athens last year (12-0) at Athens. Look for Athens to spread the field a little early in the game taking advantage of their speed and to create some space for a ground game they need to get going early in the game. Athens will have to break down Fed's line play to open the holes. Also, look for the Athens Offensive Line to make a statement in this game. Athens line is big, and are a big part of what Athens is all about this year. The Athens O-line should carry the Dogs to a victory over the Lancers...
I agree that this game should be close in the early 2 quarters, but look for Athens to walk away with this one before its said and done. They owe the Lancers from last year...
ATHENS (1-0) - 28
FED. HOCK (0-1) - 0

Monroe Central would crush any Athens County Football Team. Their QB is a legit D1 prospect and their coach had them in mid season form right out of the blocks.
That being said, I think Athens wins this one but Fed Hock will show up.

It's tough when you open your season with what is most likely the best opponent that you will face this year. It is a little hard to gauge how good Fed Hock is after the whuppin' that they took up in Woodsfield.
Athens opened with an impressive victory over GAHS, so I've got to say that the Bulldogs should be the prohibitive favorite tomorrow night.
Fed Hock will play better tomorrow, but I'm not sure if they can get over the hump yet.
Good luck Lancers, leave it all on the field.

The good people of Federal Hocking welcome the Athens Bulldogs to beautiful downtown Sturt. Come early to avoid rush hour traffic, buy lots of ticket$ (we need the money), visit the conce$$ion stand often (we need the money) and be sure to visit Poston'$ before and after the game (they need money too).
Seriously, good luck to both teams and let's have a injury free game.
Go Lancers.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but FH is once again being taken to the shed. They don't play an ounce of defense.
35 or 34 to 7 barely into the 3rd quarter now...at FH..

A tough battle for nearly 2 quarters and then the Bulldogs broke it open. JV's played all but 1 series in the second half for Athens. Great for all of the kids to get to play on Friday under the lights. Whoever takes care of the field at Fed-Hock, my hat off to you sir, the field was in awesome shape.

Did anyone really truly think Athens wouldn't put the hurt on Fed Hock tonight ? Say what you want on these threads but think with your head and not your heart.
