gallia is DIII, athens is less than 20 people away from being DIII, and Jackson is DIII... Vinton County is also DIII, but not one complains about them being "too big" so stop using that argument its just annoying

questionmark,

I completely agree that the TVC needs nothing at this point. People need to look at what happened to the SEOAL in the last few years. They added four teams to their league and then things started to fall apart, almost from the beginning. Perhaps that is what people want for the TVC.

Guys: Go online and check out the GWOC Conference. Three divisions in the greater Dayton area.....it is working quite well.

They have their divisions separated generally along geographic lines, but school size does play a factor in how they have their North, Central, and South Divisions. The Central is the division with the largest schools, North the smallest and South the middle sized schools.

Only games in each division count for league championships, but all the schools have scheduling agreements to fill out schedules. Most schools in football play 2 non-league games to begin the season, then play either 2 or 3 "crossover games" - schools within the overall league, but not within their division, then finish the season playing division games.

Schools always play all divisional opponents, but the cross-over games are different teams based on a rotating schedule.

Crebman 1,
In central Ohio there is the Mid-State League, which I believe has three divisions. I do not think this would work in the Southeast district. My biggest reason is the one given by teams leaving the SEOAL, that travel is a killer. If you keep adding teams further away, it gets tougher and tougher. People need to think about the majority of sports at their schools instead of just football. Ask the people leaving the SEOAL about trips during the week.

The TVC is just fine. In fact the Hocking will probably end up losing a team or two over the next 5 years.

NYBuckeye 96, to get the enrollment figures go to the Ohio Department of Education website and enter enrollment in the search box. When you get to the very large Excel spread sheet you will find that the schools are listed by their IRN (don't know what that is), not their name. For example the IRN for Wellston is 45021 and Trimble is 45922. You will then need to put "IRN" in the search box to get a list of IRNs by county or school district. If you can't figure it out, just post again and I'll try to provide some links.

I figured it out....they sure made that complicated!

NY's numbers are lower than I thought they were. I read in the Messenger at the start of the year that someone donated backbacks of school supplies for the Kindergarteners at NY and they distributed them to 130 students, but this says their are only 99 kindergarteners at NY.

Even if NY and Trimble consolidated, the school would still be smaller than Athens -

1 - 252 164
2 - 231 185
3 - 218 149
4 - 210 173

7 - 194 160
8 - 198 174
9 - 223 177
10 - 220 184
