Do you guys honestly believe Arno said that to Coach Faires? Even if he did do you think he was actually being serious?

And for all of you who are saying that Alexander is only winning because they are playing weak teams.... We've played these teams for the past few years and have not had near the success we are having this year...so obviously, we are getting better. Yea, they might not be top notch competition, but when you think of Alexander football, do you really think of a powerhouse tradition? No...you have to build the program...get some wins, get more players to buy into the facts that hardwork brings W's and then you start to set your goals higher and go after better programs. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Spartan4Life wrote:Now that we're actually playing schools that are the same size as us again, I look for the Spartans to get the victory. Alexander needs to forget about last week. A school the size of Athens shouldn't even be in our league to begin with. We have a great team this year and I look for us to take down the Buckeyes. It's obvious our coach is more intelligent than NY. So, given the talent we have this year, I'd say Arno beats Boston easily.

Has it really come down to "my coach is smarter then your coach"? That is a very juvenile statement. I understand that "Spartan4Life" is probably in high school, but at some point you need to grow up.

Oh, btw, my dog is bigger than YOUR dog!!

Honestly folks should leave dave alone and not talk about him because once friday nights over im sure they will bash him even more in spartan land once a big ny win happens over there.... dave is a coach with a great talent and now that coach dean is there its a double impact of talent in the coaching staff bucks roll on each season for years to come. folks just cant stand ny hell there season is like they won the superbowl if they even beat ny..most teams look to just beat ny and there happy for the season .... so go fiqure

Alex and Athens will have to learn the more your team wins the more people want to hate on them.Athens and Alex are both playing teams that they strugled to beat last year, this year thay have found a way to win.So i dont think it is so much that they stepped down their competition,i think they have stepped up their games. So i say congrats to both teams keep up the hard work and you will only get better.

Good luck to both

I agree, If its news when you lose and not when you win you have arrived! Its nice to have this competitive race in the tvc Ohio.

They are healthy No excuses coming from either team. Game on Friday, I think the Buckeyes win this one. Should be a good one.

You can believe what you want, but he most definately said that. Judging by Alexanders lack of success against Trimble in the last decade, I am betting he meant it. Throw in the fact that one of his asst coaches has tried unsuccessfully to get him to schedule up, and it makes it even more believable. I am not sayig I blame him. The more games you win, the more attention you get for your program, and the more people want to get involved. That then makes for even more success.

Nelsonville York comes in flying high, having matured throughout the season and demolishing Belpre last week, and bringing a community football tradition to the field. Alexander comes in after an emotional loss last week at Athens, never having a victory against Nelsonville York ever, and trying to build a program after a long run of down years in the TVC Ohio.

Most folks are picking Nelsonville York in this one, but I'm going with the home team Alexander Spartans in the win at home.

Good luck to both teams. See you at the game.

You have beat no one! NY will win close or not. No way this team is better than the Alex team of '96. NY had 6 seniors and only Stalder played both ways. NY wins again! Go Bucks!

questionmark wrote:Also, just like to say to ALL SPARTAN players...do not listen to what was said last night on the Radio Show...

Your Coach is great guy who has done wonders for your program...it's funny what one loss does to people, but like I heard a caller say. You were a (5-0) Team who lost to a (5-0) Team... it's hard to fault someone for losing a game of that magnitude...

Keep Your Heads Up, because you have another smashmouth, bang 'em out game this Week with the Buckeyes...

It's only taken Athens 2 years in the TVC to get back to their days of SEOAL glory (with the Abdellas, Snyder's etc., of course you young folks wouldn't know anything about that) and now they are about to become the new "Top Dawg" in the conference.
