good luck , against amanda clear creek alexander. and making the playoffs.
anything is possible, we lost a state championship in 99, to sandusky perkins, and it was their first time ever in the playoffs. they won the state.

Awesome Job Spartans!!! Great job to the players, Coach Arno and staff, and congradulations to all the fans of the Alexander Spartans. This is the day you all have been waiting for. Make the most of it and remember this is just your first stepping stone.
One thing I want to share from experience. If for some reason your team doesn't live up to this years success next year....PLease Please don't start downing your team....don't be a "what have you done for me latly type of community"
Good Luck to you all and represent us all in the TVC well. I am sure as I speak everyone in the TVC is behind you 100%...

Great job Spartans, to bad it's Amanda. This will be ugly very early, but at least you made it a head of us and Nelsonville who shared the TVC title. That's shows a lot.

Good luck from Logan too! My wife's family lives there and says there is more buzz about the team than in the last 20 years. Good 4 U.
Amanda is not new to the playoffs. Tough draw, but at least you have similar field conditions from what I hear!
Don't let anyone tell you it's too difficult. If you're in it, you can win it. The clock gives everyone the same amount of time.

When he wins 7 TVC-Ohio titles come talk to us here in Buckeye country
Let's see some success in the playoffs before Coach Boston is enshrined in greatness. Besides, the program would do the same without him. It is the tradition and the players that win championships mostly. Arno has done what he did at a school where many kids would rather play soccer. Coaches at established programs have a lot easier jobs than coaches like Arno who take over what used to be the laughing stock of the TVC Ohio. That impresses me more then taking a fine tuned machine to conference championships year after year. Coaches at those types of schools are more defined by what they do in the extra weeks. Show me a regional championship. We must look at the programs history when measuring a coach. In my opinion, Coach Boston has simply doen what any average coach with football knowledge can do with a great program. He has not done enough after week 10 to be put into the "great" category. Now Dave Sr., he definitely can be put into the great category.

I agree wholeheartedly, great post "Blizzard Man". Coach Arno has definitely pulled off a stunner and Boston Jr. walked into an already great situation that was established long before he got there, no comparison on coaching abilities here IMO. Heck, even if Alex loses saturday they'll have as many playoffs wins as N-Y in the last 10 years with all those playoff appearances.
Re: Alexander Spartans 1st playoff appearence!!
I think that you are making inaccurate assumptions of what the situation was like at Nelsonville-York when Coach Boston Jr. showed up. It is no secret that this program has a long standing tradition of winning. What you might not know is after a playoff appearance with an opening round loss to Ashland Crestview in 2000, NY had a 6-4 record in 2001, and a 5-5 record in 2002 with league losses to Belpre and Wellston. In addition to the 5-5 record of 2002 only 30 or so boys participated in football that year for the Buckeyes, compared to usually aound 60. To say that Davey walked into a program that was on auto pilot to the playoffs every year is not the case.
Good Luck Spartans!!!!!!
Good Luck Spartans!!!!!!
Re: Alexander Spartans 1st playoff appearence!!
Coach Arno has done a great job, don't get me wrong. But if I can recall this team has always been good from the youth through Jr. High. Talking about being at the right place at the right time.
Its what you do when you don't have the talent. Look back a few years ago when Meigs was by far the best team in the TVC. English running all over every team in the TVC. NY with about 6 (If that many) seniors shuts down Meigs.
Now I also believe that is the year Belpre beat NY at NY and Meigs crushed belpre in week 10.
I have seen good things from this Alexander team but nothing that I wasn't expecting from them.
I wish them well in the playoffs and really do hope they win. We all need positive wins come playoff time from any TVC team. Its been fun watching the Alexander community get behind these boys!

If n.y. had thier old coach they would have a few more playoff wins, and 1 more t.v.c. title.

"Blowhard Boy"
The League Title has always been first for NY anything after that is a bonus.
As far as a coach stepping into an already established program ask I-Town how their program went when coach Lutz stepped down a few years back.
How did you do last year at New Lex in the playoffs???????
Yes Coach Sr. is in the GREAT category however it took a while for him to get there.
"Fangosports"
I disagree wholeheartedly!!!
This group of atheletes from Alex. won when they were in the 4th grade,
won when they were in the 6th grade,
won when they were in the 8th grade,
and they won when they were in the 12th grade.
So as far as a stunner, I think not.
You like to attach yourself to programs that are having success ..
Last year you attached yourself to the Oak Hill basketball team. I am sure that they were greatful to have your infinate wisdom . I would liken you as more of a parasite.
For you I will put forth a challenge!!!!!!!!
Get behind ONE team and support THEM year in and year out...
Become involved and support that ONE team by being a member of their boosters...
Work some fund raisers work some games and refrain from "jumping on the band wagon".
I honostly don't believe you can do this as your ego could not take the ups and downs of any ONE program.
This year we started 5 sophomores.
In most programs that would be considered a rebuilding year but with a record of 8 & 2 I would call it reloading.
So as I stated earlier
We would not trade our coach for 100 Arnos' + $$$ change $$$

Since we are gonna play the if game. No disrespect to the current O coordinator intended, but if we could get that guy to come out of retirement to coach the offense, I think the one and done monkey the Bucks have in the playoffs would be gone with a quickness.
Once again. Go Spartans!!!!!!
Re: Alexander Spartans 1st playoff appearence!!
Also no disrespect, but I feel the current coaching staff is a perfect fit, each and everyone of them!!!!

Re: Alexander Spartans 1st playoff appearence!!
There is a really good article on Coach Arno in today's Messenger ... The guy is tremendous coach and even better man off the field ... Sometimes there is more to coaching than just wins and losses - and sometimes certain coaches are better suited for certain jobs/schools/teams ... IMO, there is not a better guy in the world better suited for Alexander than Sean Arno ... That's the bottom line ... There may be better coaches out their, that is always the case - but for Alexander and the community of Albany - Coach Arno is a perfect fit ... The article in todays paper kind of touches on that point and there was even a lot more content that didn't make it in due to space.
