Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
I didn't see a thread on this so I figured I'd start one. As most of you know, Davidson decided to hang up the headsets this year.
Who will take this job?

No Idea who will replace him. Maybe we could land your coach? lol.
I would just like to take the time to thank coach Davidson for all his years of service to the community and the program. As a head coach for 7 years and assistant for at least 20 seasons he has helped numerous kids advance their lives and careers.

During his last coaches show on WBEX, overheard coach D say he was gonna recommend Asst. coach Jeff Metzler for the job... long time Asst. and ran the defense and off-season weight room at Chilly. Ultimately, the Board of Education makes the final call here.

Even though I don't think Metzler will get the job as head coach he would do an outstanding job. I think the board is going to go outside of who was on davidsons staff but whoever gets the job would be smart to keep him on there. One of the best defensive coordinators in southern ohio and has dedicated hours upon hours to the kids in the weightroom.

Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
I know Jeff personally. He is a great man and I have great respect for him. He wants nothing but the best for the kids and dedicates much time for them. With that said, IMO, he would not be the best choice to make a head coach. I think he is an OK coordinator but I don't believe he is flexible enough to be a head coach. If he does get the job however, I will be completely behind him and supportive of him. I do wish him luck and hope that in one capacity or another he is able to stay on the staff.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
Chillicothe would be VERY LUCKY to get Coach Metzler as their next Head Coach. He is a very hard working, dedicated, loyal individual. And he has been here for a long time so he would not be just passing through.

Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
The word coming from the school board, that they do not want anybody from the previous coaching staff to interview for the coaching job.I do believe they will go outside to get a new coach. The new coach coming in will have to be stickler for discipline right from the start.I do believe Metzler would be a good fit for a Head coach.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
A blast from the past is being considered: former Waverly coach Derek Dewitt is rumored to be interested. He was, of course, an assistant at CHS before getting the Waverly gig. He is a coach in Waukegan, Illinois, after a few years in the college ranks, now.
I've heard LE's coach wasn't interested.
A southern Ohio legend may be, however.
Coach Metzler is a good guy and coach, but it's apparent a change is necessary and that means, IMHO, going outside the program for the next coach.

Any updates?
Who is this "legend" you were referring too?
Who said Bartholomew wasn't interested? Was it a credible source?

UPDATES????
Timetable???
Lifting should be starting up soon for next season so it would be nice to have a coach named within the month or so I would think.

I believe the deadline for apps is Monday, 12/7, so we won't hear much before them (except for my own rumor and innuendo - LOL).
We'll see when the resumes come out who is looking for the job.

Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
So Bartholomew applied indeed... interesting. What suprises me the most was to see Ron Hinton's name on there. I'd say those two would be top choices.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
Travis Everhart is NOT at Kent State. He lives in Kent, Ohio. He is currently coaching at Hiram.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers head coach search
I just hope the powers that be take their time and chose a head coach that will make a spalsh in the community....the football team needs the support from the community! I also wouldn't hire from within.....clean house!!!! Good luck to all the applicants. Go Cavs!!
