Hehe) This is the year to beat the Chiefs, if it's to be done! I see at least 3 losses, but what the other teams bring can affect that by 1 either way IMO. If someone wants an SEOAL Title, you'd better load up in the next couple of years. The Chiefs will be back! :)
Again, congrat's on a good 2009 Season. Should have been longer! Losing a fella who accounted for a piece of 80% of the offense takes all team's playoff hopes away. GRRR
Good luck to all, and to all a good night!

Logan returned only 5 starters in 2001 and went 10-0.

They returned 4 starters in 2002 and went 6-4.

And they returned 5 starters again in 2005 and finished 8-2.

Logan will return only 3-4 starters in 2010. It will be a tall task, but history shows that LHS has rebounded before from huge losses.

It will take a group of kids stepping up and stepping into new roles.

In especially the 2001 team, the 2nd team was almost as good as the 1st team when they went in (In the 2000 season). Can we say that about our Soph's who played this year? Not many. The returning players in 2005 were the Stellar sophs graduating on the stellar 2007 team. The 7th-8th grade teams of those earlier years looked better (to me, as a whole)than -"next year's 11th grade team". This is a new set of circumstances.
In addition, I think we agreed when we posted our overall record predictions for next year. Give or take 1.
I do agree with you, but this isn't going to be exactly the same as it has been.
GO CHIEFS!!!

How will the blue devils be next year? I could not go to any games but some of my friends told me that some of the boys that are playing next year get hurt a lot and the coaches arent very good. But with good leadership they might be someone everyone fears!

I think that Warren, Jackson, Portsmouth, Logan and Gallia will all be good next year.

If the list of coaches interested in the Chilli opening is correct, they could possibly be an annual contender, and soon.

With the improvements at Warren (who themselves are looking for a coach), a consistently solid Jackson program who will have a 2nd year coach to build with, Portsmouth and all their returning athletes, etc I think the league could be as balanced as 2003 when GAHS ran the table, but the Gregory led Bulldogs, the Humphries led Ironmen, and guess who (Logan) fought down to week 10 before the Donnie Johnson led Devils clinched the title on the hilltop in Logan.

Dont confuse balance with mediocrity.

I think the SEOAL will be down next season!!! So look for a under dog to win the league.

Since Portsmouth has been in the league,in most seasons it has been Logan and everyone else.It comes down to size, A mediocre Logan team should beat a good Portsmouth team every year.Look at the deep run Ironton made this year, and Logan handed them a loss.Logan being ranked 3 in the state, its what is an opionion poll

Ironton's run wasn't that deep.

Portsmouth beat Warren, Marietta, Chillicothe, and Gallia Academy in SEOAL play......all but GAHS are considerably larger than PHS.......and the Trojans have beaten the Cavaliers 2 of the past 3 years, both at Herrnstein Field. Portsmouth should be favored in all 4 of those games next year.

The Trojans haven't beaten Logan yet, but nobody has beaten the Chieftains in SEOAL play for quite a while now.

In 2010, Portsmouth has its best chance to date of beating LHS......and it might just be for the SEOAL title, being in week 9.

Portsmouth has had a winning SEOAL record two of the last 3 years in the league. Two years ago PHS went undefeated vs. the South Division, losing to Logan and Zanesville in the North.

With Athens/Zanesville having left and Marietta leaving soon, Portsmouth is in a very good situation being in the SEOAL........Ironton is leaving also, but they will always remain on PHS's schedule. Even the strongest opponents of the "travel" issue have to admit that a 6 team SEOAL is much more travel friendly yet at the same time still provides excellent competition for the athletes.

A 6 team SEOAL also provides the opportunity for member schools to schedule good non-league competition........5 games could still include the traditional rivals which bring in the big dollars and also provide room for some new opponents........Portsmouth is playing Wilmington (D2) in the first game of 2010.

Portsmouth doesn't need to be in the SOC with 5 non-league games.......Wheelersburg, West, and Minford/Valley/Ashland KY could be on the Trojans slate for NC games, while Ironton will be on the schedule for the next 100 years. That leaves 1-2 games for PHS to be creative and schedule a game that would benefit the them in a competitive sense and also reward them in big computer points with a win.

Personally, I hope Logan stays for a long time, GAHS keeps Ironton on the NC schedule, and the SEOAL remains intact, because it will be sweet to beat them all when the pendulum swings back to the Old French City! :)
