If he can win with Amanda Clearcreek talent I think he'll win with chillicothe's talent. I think it's a great hire. He's won every where he has went.

Amanda is in bad shape financially, they may not have a choice but to hire assistant Corey Black because they will not be able to hire anyone outside of the school. Black was the head coach for a few years at Southeastern.

Isn't that how it goes most of the time? When you got good kids you win when you don't you have down years.

What you heard was a tremendous amount of rumbling from disgruntled fans who were spoiled by the victories and success Coach Hinton gave them. Unfortunately, just a little over two years ago there was an underground throng screaming to get rid of their hall of fame coach. I feel sorry for any district which must go to pay-to-play and if this does happen at Amanda, I see their program and their fans imploding. I hope this will not be the case; but as the old adage goes, be careful what you ask for! Those who screamed over decisions he made in the past may soon look back and cry for the "good old days" with Hinton.
Two major issues will play into the potential success of Coach Hinton at Chilly. One is will the type of offense he normally runs excite those who need to be on the football field and get them out to play and will the Chilly kids embrace the control and discipline his program has normally had? It will also be interesting to see who wins the battle of egos with a basketball coach who really hasn't wanted his basketball kids to play football and now a football coach who really hasn't wanted his football kids to play basketball; preferring they wrestle or just get in the weight room. Things that will make you go hmmmmmm as this year goes forward. Good luck to the Cavs and their fans.

Nice post dude. It will be interesting to see what happens. I wish nothing but the best for CHS.

Bass Viking,
You could not be more wrong about Ron not wanting kids to play basketball. Ron has always encouraged kids to participate in as many sports as possible. As a matter of fact if you look at the state title teams, most of those kids either played bball or wrestled in the winter and the track team placed 2nd in the state that year. He has always wanted his kids to be active. Don't talk about things you know nothing about please.

from 05 to present I'd say that statement is somewhat fair, but thats the year the staff lost several coaches, followed by Arndt leaving in 07....that was a back-breaker.
Throughout the 90's & up to 05 there were only a couple of schools in the state...all divisions included, that accumulated more playoff appearances than AC.....didn't happen via exceptional athletes alone.
As far as kids following Hinton to Chilli...I can see Corcoran as a possibility. He's came from Chilli his freshman year I believe. It would be a tough loss, he is in my opinion one of, if not the best athlete on the team.
Bassviking....Your way off base. Assides from a couple of idiots, noone was asking for Hintons head. There was plenty of controversy at the QB spot in 08, but wanting Hinton to leave...not hardly.
Hinton has gotten most of the credit over the years, but the fact is Arndt had just as much to do with AC's sucess.
We were always good on the defensive side of the ball with Arndt running the show.I can't see anything but good coming out of these two getting back together again.
Re: Can Ron Hinton turn around the Chillicothe Cavaliers?
Ron Hinton stands at the top of the Amanda Clearcreek program, but he didn't build it himself. Three brothers and a Father that lived and breathed football was the foundation of his success, not to mention the Defensive Head Coach, Jeff Arndt. I'm not sure he'll get that kind of support, and commitment from the Chilli folks, and Athletes. The Mid State League got much better the last several years, and Amanda's success has declined. Three of the last five years were not successful by the " Creeks " standards. The grumblings were not so much against Ron, as they were against his apparent successor, Kory Black, which won't happen if the levy fails again.

Ron Hinton vs. Bob Lutz... I can see it now.
Congrats to CHS on hiring a great coach. I, however, question how fast he will get the ball rolling at CHS. AC wasn't a great program because of the talent in Amanda Clearcreek High School, but because they were good from the ground up. It may take a few years to get little leagues churning out great players who replace the ones that leave like clockwork, so you Cavalier fans may need to be a little patient with him.
Then again, I could be 100% wrong and Chillicothe win a state title with a 15-0 record. You never know when you're dealing with young kids.

Good coaches excel with talent.
Mediocre coaches win with talent.
Poor coaches often lose with talent.
Great coaches win more than they should considering the talent level of their team.
Ron Hinton is a great coach.

How many years do you think Ron Hinton will be around?
Re: Can Ron Hinton turn around the Chillicothe Cavaliers?
Till he retires since he lives in the area, unless they try to run him out of there after this yr.
Re: Can Ron Hinton turn around the Chillicothe Cavaliers?
If Hinton & Arndt cant get the program going in a positive direction, coachings not the problem.
