I know Ironton runs a lot but you need a QB that can do more than hat.

I agree, Tommy will be the QB and he has a really good arm......add to that we are going to have a couple really good receivers to go along with his good arm.

I heard around the grapevine that a good qb moved into the Ironton school district and is already attending classes..is there any truth to this..I believe I heard he was Ashland, KY's qb from last season?

He was a heck of a QB last season as a Sophomore, he has a tremendous amount of Talent throwing or running the Ball.

I don't know anything about him coming to I'town but he is a pretty talented qb. He's a lefty with decent height. Could stand to put on a few pounds. He does'nt appear very fast but he is patient and can pick his way around a defense. He runs pretty hard for his size. Handles the ball well and throws a nice ball. He throws a catchable ball and seems particularly capable of putting it in small places. Good arm strength, nice zip on his out routes.
To answer the question though I would expect Tommy Waginger to have the experience advantage as far as returning qb's but you never know. Coach Lutz will put the guys where they fit best.

Of all of the years that Lutz has coached since I have been old enough to follow..which is late 70's...I have only know of one qb that just didn't need to be a qb..and I won't say who that is..there have been a couple that really didn't fit the bob lutz style..but were decent qb's..so in say 30 plus years to only have one or two years of poor qb's and a couple more with average at best...and 26 years of what I consider good qb's or better in the lutz style of offense...not bad...Lutz will show up with a team that will compete..always does..and he has a good line coming up...that is all that matters for the most part with an ironton offense..having good backs..which we will..is a large plus...but if our qb is good..which tommy will be at least good..I don't see our offense having much trouble..

Handing the ball off is not all that complicated. Now if he wanted to do the unthinkable and throw the ball that is a different story altogether.

He also needs a qb who can run the option well...which seems to be the biggest key to ironton's game..if they have a good qb who can and will run the option..and have a couple of backs..one for speed and one for power..then they will be unstoppable..with a good line...which they always seem to have..
