I wasn't sure whose QB he was asking about. Clayton Howell will be a stud for the Tigers with some pretty good receivers with another year experience.Bigdog wrote:Clayton Howell will be back at Waverly.

Waverly is an up and coming program. I expect them to be Burgs biggest SOC challenge again this season!

Re: 2017 Waverly Tigers
Was able to check out the Tigers last night, 7 on 7 with Greenfield. Waverly is very good at the skill positions.
Senior signal caller Clayton Howell returns and should be one of the best QB's in southeast Ohio.
Senior Drew Kritzwiser takes over at the tailback position. He won't be the bruising back we were used to with Harris but he does bring more speed and quickness.
Waverly lost a great receiver and DB in graduate Cade Marquez but return 3 outstanding playmakers in Senior Kayne Jordan and Juniors Cobe Marquez and Easton Wolfe. All 3 have outstanding hands, run nice routes and have break away speed. All three will most likely go both ways seeing action in the defensive backfield while Marquez may also see some time at LB.
Returning for his Senior year and anchoring the LB core is Johnny Thompson. JT also looks to get a few carries a game from the FB spot.
Senior Gage Savely returns to the DE where he promises to cause havoc on opposing QB's.
The Tigers were working some younger kids in last night. Probably most notable was Chaoman who made some nice play at the corner spot and freshman Phoenix Wolfe.
Waverly doesn't appear very deep so hopefully a few more kids step up to fill some back up spots.
Not much info on the lines for now.
I did hear yesterday Waverly got a sophomore move in who could add some depth at LB.

^^
Good analysis. Chapman caught my eye on both sides of the ball as well. Good hands and played aggressive. He appeared confident. The freshman QB throws a nice ball.
The secondary anticipates and breaks hard on balls. Good speed also. I wonder how will we do against the run this year? LB is the big question of course. We'll see who steps up.

Ya, need some depth at the LB position. Would love to see Marquez be able to dedicate his defensive time at corner.toast wrote: Sat Jul 22, 2017 2:15 pm ^^

The freshman QB has really nice size as well as a good ball. I imagaine he'll be the starter next year as a sophomore. We just have to keep Howell healthy so the young gun has a year to learn and grow.
