Heard from strong sources that Ironton has reached a deal to play Milford Fairbanks to fill a 10 game schedule.

Fairbanks is out in the sticks outside of Marysville in Union County and they are awful. Itown vs the farmers,
Now scheduling wussy teams, Canadians, etc. For shame on the river !!

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
talk about underscheduling, your team is famous for that, thats why their playoff record sucks, the season does not prepare them for teams their size.

aaaaaa, tigerbait fell for the "bait."
This will most likely be a one year deal. Fairbanks had a late cancellation from Marion Catholic folding their program. Hopefully this helps both programs. It is will give Ironton a much needed 5th home game and now the Fighting Tigers set up a good future schedule. I knew if the Fighting Tigers could fill the 2010 campaign it would be much better in the future.
It would be nice to keep Jackson, Gallia, Chillicothe and Portsmouth on the schedule. If Warren bolts the SEOAL, it would be nice to get together with the leftovers in a more travel friendly conference.
Thanks to Eagle for giving the heads up on the opening. It was a big help.

Ironton will get you for stalking - move on - there's nothing here for you to see! I'd far rather drive to Columbus than Marietta.
Myself, I think it's an awesome schedule. I know, I'm sure excited about the season! I'm very excited about this team

Seriously, this is great! an awesome schedule...a great road trip for week 9..(and a trip to Donato's Pizza!) and then to break in Portsmouth's new stadium by giving them an absolute drubbing! What a way to wrap up the season. As exciting as last year's was...I think this will equal it!

Fairbanks is a small D-5 school who plays a D- 6 schedule ( 2 D-5s and 8 D-6s), including some of the weakest D-6 teams in the state. They may not be able to field a team if there is a late harvest !!
And certainly no reserve game. Not enough kids !!

No doubt, year in and year out Ironton has a great schedule, I just find it funny that *some* Ironton posters sit and bash other team's schedules while they get their panties in a wad when one game is slammed.
Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
football fan: Good post. However, who exactly is being critical of ironton picking this game up? I have only seen one poster question the move and he questions every Ironton move. That is a result of alot of humiliation over the years. He is entitled to his release.
I think you will see Ironton play a good schedule from here on out. I am still a big fan of courting a few schools and either rejoining a "restructured" SEOAL or forming a new league. Either way, I believe you will see Ironton continuing to play great football competition.
The Ironton vs. Wheelrsburg game to kick off the season will be another barn burner.
I am really looking forward to the Ashland at Ironton game this season. i think you have a potential to see a monster crowd take this game in. Ashland will be very good and Ironton is coming off a loss to them last season.
Loving this schedule as far as travel goes. Ironton travels to Jackson, Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, Russell and Chillicothe. All 5 of those games have Ribber "bypass" potential.

I wish Ironton the best with scheduling, but I don't think they will be welcome in the Seoal, "restructered" or not.

Re: Ironton week 9 filled???
It doesn't really matter who is on the schedule because hell, it seems like almost every other year anymore they have trouble finding anyone in SEO that's not already on the schedule to play them. It's not their fault and when you have an opportunity to schedule someone this close to the season opener then you have to run with it. It beats the heck out of sitting for a week and just practicing because no one who has ever played the game would wish this upon anyone (two weeks of practice) before the next game. Fall friday nights are fun with a capital "F" during your high school years. Ah, that locker room smell at the end of the week and all the funky smelling practice gear just never goes away. It's been 36 years for me and I can still smell it.
