Jackson's is Monday, Aug. 16

Oak Hill's is Tuesday, Aug. 10.

Wellston and Vinton County I don't have dates yet for their media days.

GalliaGrad78.....They are loosely called "Media Days" for this reason, even though "this is high school football for goodness sakes" as you put it.

It's one day during August when the team and individual photos are taken, and it's easier to have ONE single day when the professional photographer, program photographer, yearbook photographer, newspapers, radio and even TV can take pictures when everyone is in uniform all at the same time. See how that works?

Everyone is in uniform at same time and practice time is not disrupted.

While everyone is all there, all at the same time, those of us in the media can conduct our preseason interviews with coaches and players. Again, practice time is not taken away from either.

So before you spout off "Media Days?" being "Ridiculous!", and make yourself look like a total moron, please know why they are called that.

Thanks much.

Fall Sports Media Kick-Off Open to Public ...

At 6 p.m. Saturday at Don Drumm Stadium, the Marietta Tigers Fall Sports Kickoff will feature the fall sports teams and coaches. The event is free (except for concessions) to the public. All fall sports teams will be in attendance. WMOA will be interviewing coaches about the upcoming season, as well as providing music to add to the atmosphere. The concession stand will be open, complete with lemon shakes. Board of education members will be there to serve ice cream. This event is an effort to generate awareness and excitement about the upcoming fall sports seasons, as well as thank the community for its support.
