2010 Outlook:
As Andy Schob moves from one Washington County school (Marietta) to another (Warren), it's fitting that the Tigers spread offense may trickle to the Big Blue while the Warriors wing-t is now "in style" at Marietta.

Schob, the hard luck head coach who had to fight off more injuries in 2009 than some coaches have in the decade, is happy at his new home. And for good reason. The Warriors may be the surprise team in the SEOAL for 2010 and quite possibly are the league's most talented team.

That's right, Warren may have the most talented roster in the SEOAL.

Starting at quarterback where senior Justin Hilverding and sophomore Dylan Leffingwell will compete for signal calling duties and ending in deep pool of offensive linemen, the Big Blue is deep and primed for a run at their first SEOAL championship since 1995.

Hilverding has the experience to win the nod at the QB spot, but Leffingwell is a talented sophomore who missed most of last season with a leg injury. He may have to wait another year, but look for Leffingwell to make an impact somewhere if it isn't at quarterback.

And while Warren must replace Kaleb Wolfe (1005 yards, 12 TDs in 2009) and Kyle Pritt (294 yards, 4 TDs in 2009), they return Austin Henthorne (231 yards, 2 TDs). Joining Harlow will be Dustin Harlow and Tanner Barrows. In addition, junior Jeremy Hastie is a versatile slot back who is capable of making plays as both a runner and a receiver.

On the outside, Warren pairs two tall and fast athletes at split end that could pose problems for opposing DBs. Grant Venham is one of the league's top athletes and made 23 catches for 260 yards and 6 TDs last fall. Paired with a fellow 6'3 partner in Jeremy Fivecoat (3 catches, 69 yards, 2 TDs in 2009) and it makes for a potent combo. Look for sophomore Andrew Vincent (2 catches, 38 yards as a freshman in 2009) to see time in the slot.

Up front, Warren returns Dustin Timberman at center, Brian Hendrix at guard, and Joey Lane at center. Nate Greathouse, Jake Offenberger, Jimmy Buck, Richard Morse, Corey Goodman, and Cody Church all add depth on the offensive line.

Defensively, the Warriors return all 4 starting defensive linemen led by Lane and Hendrix on the inside with speed threats off the edge in Fivecoat and Justyn Rohr. Greathouse, Timberman, Offenberger, Morse, and Goodman add depth inside while Tim Morrison and Church will be back-ups at end.

Henthorn is a returning starter at linebacker with Harlow, Barrows, and Leffingwell ready to step in. In passing situations, Leffingwell can drop into the secondary to give Warren a 4-3 look.

Hilverding and Venham are returning starters in the secondary while Nate Root, Hastie, and Chas Miller will battle for the final starting spot.

There isn't a game on the schedule that Warren can't win, and a 3 week road trip to Athens, Portsmouth, and Jackson likely to decide just how good this Warren team can be.

Warriors hard to figure this year. Probably could do 5-5 at best, but a losing season possible, especially if they have injuries early . Still, they have several easy teams on the schedule, so while they won't be great, they shouldn't be too bad.

Well Paladin, so nice to read your opinion. I read in another post of yours that you do nothing but tell the truth and hold nothing back, or something to that affect. I guess I would like to point out that your truths are truths formed on your opinions alone. So in fact per you they are true. The fact is there are topics on this form that ask about the fastest kids in the league, best skilled kids, best linemen, ext. The reality is all of the posts on here are just opinions. My opinions are that this year’s Warriors are going to be surprising. They have done very well pre-season and are growing to love the winning feeling. I will not write down how many great fast and best kids in the league we have, but trust me the talent is not short at Warren. I would not be going out on a limb too far to say your thoughts on Warren were not much better last year. And then up jumped a determined Warren team that played very well all season.
I think that it is an awesome set of fans to believe so firm that there team will be winners after losing as much Logan did, Not only players but Coach. I want the same for Warren. So let me say this, good luck to your Logan squad this season Paladin. I mean no personal disrespect but Having said that, I too want to be known as saying only the truth and holding nothing back as well, so respectfully I truly feel that yours comments on Warren are precisely perfect as to what I think about the true outcome for Logan this season.

I would also like to say i do feel Warren will be Great this season!!!!!!!!!

I believe you are refering to my comment where I said I never pull my punches, good or bad about what I say ( which are , indeed, opinions). Funny, you think you are entitled to yours, but I'm not ?

How "great" was Warren last year and how did that compare what I said about them pre-season ? lol

My prediction is 5-5 at best for them. Whats yours, expert ?

Warren vs Belpre--Warren takes this game with eeees

Warren vs Morgan--Another win for Warren here with a twist

Warren vs Athens--If Warren wins this game they could finish above .500. I'm going to take Warren on-- Athens will not get the breaks this season that happens last year in some ball games.

Warren vs Portsmouth--If I remember right Warren gave this ball game away last year. This year Portsmouth will be the one picked to win. I'm thinking Warren will miss last years QB and big running back and Portsmouth will pull this one out if Myers is healthy.

Warren vs Jackson--If Warren goes into this game 3 and 1 or better they will take this game if they go into it 2 and 2 they fall to the Ironmen.

Warren vs Parkersburg South--With Warren playing at home they take the boys from across the river.

Warren vs Logan--Warren plays the Chiefs for three plus quarters but the Chiefs score often late.

Warren vs Chillicothe--Warren goes in to Chillicothe as the pick to win and finds out that Chillicothe is starting to get into their new coaches game. Warren comes away with the win but beaten up.

Warren vs Gallipolis--Warren finds out that Gallipolis is for real and suffers a home loss.

Warren vs Marietta--Warren takes out their loss to Gallipolis and makes Marietta's last SEOAL game one to remember.

This could make Warren finish at 7 and 3 and I'm going out on the limb and saying a game 11.

Warren is going to be a big toss up this year on how they will preform. They could have a tough year with only going 4-6. Or they could also be surprising and go 7-3 don't think that will happen though. But my opinion is Warren will go 5-5.

Warren vs Belpre - Win

Warren vs Morgan - win

Warren vs Athens - Tough game this is one that could go either way

Warren vs Portsmouth - Loss

Warren vs Jackson - Could be a good game but a loss

Warren vs Parkersburg South - Another good game that could be a win for either team

Warren vs Logan - Loss

Warren vs Chillicothe - should be a good game Warren should be able to win but will be a very good game.

Warren vs Gallipolis - It will be a good game i think Warren should be favored for it being a home game.

Warren vs Marietta - Warren should be able to beat there rivals and end the season with a win.

Warren vs Belpre - Warren wins big; 1-0
Warren vs Morgan - Warren wins bigger; 2-0
Warren vs Athens - Warren in a close one; 3-0
Warren vs Portsmouth - Portsmouth too much to handle, Warren loses close on; 3-1
Warren vs Jackson - Warren gets impressive win a close game on the road; 4-1
Warren vs Parkersburg South - Warren beats former coach by 10; 5-1
Warren vs Logan - Logan may be rebuilding, but Logan is Logan until proven otherwise, close one, but loss; 5-2
Warren vs Chillicothe - Coach Hinton has Chilly going by here and long bus ride gets to the Warriors; 5-3
Warren vs Gallipolis - Warren gets the edge at home in a close, hard hitting game; 6-3
Warren vs Marietta - Marietta can't combat the size of the Warriors upfront, line pushes Warren to 3 td win; 7-3

Warren puts together back to back 7-3 campaigns but unfortunately, in what could be the toughest region in the state, they are on the outside looking in on the playoff picture again.

ttfn -

I based it off what I saw last year in Varsity/JV games and what I have heard from the boards and in the press box, etc.

I did that for all the teams.

Paladin, I had no intention of insulting you as it appears I did. I am sorry that you thought I was saying you could not have an opinion, on the contrary, I admire that you say what you want, when you want. I guess I should have been clearer on that. As you feel my thoughts are wrong, I do yours. That is life, No hard feelings, I just think you don’t fully understand what going on at warren. I don’t understand all about Logan but I have my thoughts on how I think there season will go. I complemented you and the Logan fans a few times in that post and was very careful to write respectful the whole time. As for the last thing you picked negative out of the post was the fact I said I think your thoughts on Warren were the same last year and we were good last season. I only meant I think you would have said Warren stunk last season as you are predicting this season. Only making the point that we were good last year and I think will be again. I don’t know what you wrote last year about Warren or if you did, I was making an assumption. Lets grow up a little and not name call, I am not a genius, I never claimed to be, I just wanted to post honest and say what I thought as you do. No reason to lash out back at me.

I'm sorry you were offended by my post, you can have your opinion, I was saying I too want to post that way. Please don’t be so defensive. It makes me think that you did not really read the post and just wanted to jump back at me to be negative. I think Logan fans are some of the best in the league. Take a complement or not, just remember that writing negative and or hurtful things on a keyboard is not the same as saying it to someone’s face. I was not trying to offend you in the last post, sorry that it came off that way. I hope you understand what I am saying now, if not we will just not communicate any longer.
