I think #44 Lee Compton for West got ejected. He also got suspended for two games. That is just what I heard.

It really does not need further clarification...RationalVoice wrote:Just curious - why do you say this is not surprising ?

Exactly. Watch what happens when they start losing.Neutron Man wrote:Well not just cause I am a Burg fan, but it's ALWAYS been said that the way to beat West is get them mad, and fists start flying! Not Dissing!!
Now I have to say this.... their discipline has been MUCH better under Triplett. But Siders will be Siders. Some things never change.
Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
We were told to take it to their face and tell them where to meet u after the game, not during it cause it hurts your team to retaliate. Just my two cents worth

Yes they made him leave the stadium
Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
I did not see the game but I called one of my friends that watched the game and said there was a Fairland player come of the bench and punch a player. Let me also tell you that my friend said both teams played hard and there are great deal of good kids on the field for both teams because they played hard to the end.
Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
I was told by someone who was there that Pendleton and Fairland's tailback got into a "scuffle". Pendleton was getting the better of the Fairland player when a Fairland teammate ran onto the field and uppercut Pendleton twice, knocking him down. The player that knocked Pendleton down was then ejected and police escorted from the stadium.
Just what I heard...

Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
If the above is true, can you say Jealousy!!! Those rich boys must not know who they are messing with!!
Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
....and then the Army was called and they flew in the choppers with nukes on them... The threat of mutual mass destruction seemed to calm everyone down.... and then more half truths and rumors spread and then Burg Grad 77, being from the burg, decided to put people down because he is, after all, better than everyone else.... and then all was well in the world
Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
Must be 2 Pendelton's then. Cause Trevon had been standing on the sideline for about 2 plays getting a rest when this happened.
Nobody hit any ref.
West played very well. Offensive line looked great. Special teams was great, especially Kyle Auger with 2 blocked punts and good kickoffs/punts.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The rumors are sure Flyin. Come on Guys these are teenage Kids and very Strong and very Athletic, and very Team oriented. Their not going to stand for any body mistreating any of their teammates.
Anyway I think the coaching staff has to be very pleased with their Sophs, the way they all stepped up and played, Zach Frye who played in Comptons line backer position and on special teams, recovering a fumble for a TD, Justin Crace 42 yds. and a TD, Matt Bennett nose guard, and Jesse Scott at OL Tackle- who is going to be a Great player, to name a few. West has so much talent and kids that can step up and get the Job done. Can't wait to hear coach "Ts" reaction to the Game Film.
SOOOOOOOOO Proud of our Siders!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
Geesh, the views of the scuffle are all twisted. There is some truth some made up. I can not sit and say that the West boys were keeping their mouths shut, but I can say that I did not see anything cheap physically. Fairland boys were mad they were getting manhandled. They were frustrated. What blew it all up is when the kid from Fairland came running as hard as he could off the bench throwing heymakers into the pile and caught the ref with a right hook. So yes a Ref did get hit, by a Fairland player. No unsportsman like penalties on West the entire game with the exception of the 1 incident. You people are right about 1 thing that some things are never gonna change. West will not bow down to anyone just because people say they are animals and need to change their attitudes. As a football team the frustration has been replaced with a positive winning attitude, but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself. I watched several Fairland players push/shove/kick the West boys and the West boys did nothing but shake their heads. Either way Fairland has a big/fast/physical team and West wore them out.
Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
Way to go West. But instead of hearing about the fight i would like to hear the highlights of the game. Read the times online and seen where West threw some passes which is part of the offense they lacked before. These are the things i want to read about not just the fight ,you no mess with one you gotem all no suprise there, not like that everywhere, nice to hear it is in West Portsmouth.

Boy, things can really get crazy!! We heard that there was a fight, and Pendleton whipped two ref's, a deputy sheriff, and a member of the Chain Gang!!!!!
Glad to here that wasn't true, that poor Chain Gang guy didn't need whipped!!!!
No really, it's good to here that it wasn't as bad as we had heard. Hope everything works out for the best.
Congrat's to West on the win!!!
Proud to be a Falcon!!!

Re: Week 1 - West at Fairland
Fairland is very good. They have size, speed, and are well coached. They put alot into this game. Their offense is complex, yet they run it with real precision, especially to be the first game of the season. They are a good look for us playing Portsmouth next week.
Only problem for Fairland going forward is their really beat up. They had a reciever and their huge lineman #79 leave with leg injuries. The quarterback Fisher is really tough. He took a ton of big hits and kept getting up.
For West the big difference this year is we have many more weapons and our offensive line looks great. Trevon had the kickoff return and the long run for the TD. But then you have Auger, Locher, etc at running backs and a really good passing game. I believe Ratliff is the best passing QB we've had since Brian Howell. This team is only scratching the surface of what their capable of.
