Gallipolis looked really good....Jared Golden down with a knee problem. One player from Meigs left in the EMS, not sure what happened. JV looked good also.

Meigs-Gallipolis scrimmage
Gallipolis and Meigs varsity and reserve football teams scrimmaged two quarters apiece at Bob Roberts Stadium in Pomeroy Friday evening.
During the first two quarters, Gallia Academy outscored Meigs four touchdowns to none.
In the reserve game, Meigs outscored GAHS 1-0.
Other than kickoff and punt returns, the scrimmage was played under game-like conditions under the lights.
Both coaches used numerous players in the scrimmage that lasted over two hours, mainly because of injuries to a Marauder and a Blue Devil.
Gallia’s Jared Golden was injured on the fifth play of the scrimmage and did not return to action. Meigs’ Jeff Roush had to be taken off the field by ambulance midway in the first period of the JV scrimmage.
Gallipolis took the opening kickoff and drove 70 yards in nine plays, all on the ground. Drew Young scored from seven yards out and Ty Hannon kicked the point after with Tyler Eastman holding.
After forcing a Meigs punt, GAHS marched 59 yards in five plays with Austin Wilson scoring from 25 yards out. Hannon added the point after.
GAHS forced another punt, then marched 53 yards in four plays with Wilson rambling the final 36. Hannon added the point after.
Zack Tackett recovered a Meigs fumble on the Marauder 35 to set up Gallia Academy’s final score. Following a 15-yard penalty on Meigs, GAHS scored in three plays when Brandon Taylor ran it in from 20 yards out. Again Hannon added the point after.
At this point, both coaches began running in the subs.
In the varsity contest, GAHS ran 28 plays while Meigs ran 20.
Gallipolis collected 12 first downs to Meigs three. The Gallians had 212 total yards (non-passing) while Meigs picked up 53 total yards, 47 passing. Both teams had one fumble with Meigs losing one. GAHS was penalized five times for 35 yards while Meigs was penalized three times for 35 yards. Ethan Moore punted once for 27 yards while Meigs punted three times for 85 yards.
For GAHS, Wilson had eight carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Young finished with 46 yards and one TD. Taylor had 32 yards in five trips and one score. Moore was 0 for 1 passing.
Meigs quarterbacks completed two of six passes for 47 yards, and gained six net yards in 14 trips.
Gallipolis will open its 2010 season Friday, Aug. 27. Meigs will host Coal Grove Aug. 27 in its season opener.

Re: GAHS VS MEIGS
The boys in the trenches on both sides of the ball looked good for GAHS. I think the jury is still out. While they didn't look horrible agains West, they got beat pretty easily. They looked like a dominant team last night. Did they improve that much or is Meigs that bad? The verdict is still out. We'll find out a lot next Friday at Athens.
Re: GAHS VS MEIGS
GAHS looked good last night, but I wish the passsing game would have got some work ---They are going to face some teams that can stop a run only attack and they will need to have more of a run-pass balance to be successful----
Re: GAHS VS MEIGS
It was only a scrimmage & no one really wins...... Glad we are making improvements......Maybe our running game is so dominant we won't need to pass..........LOL....... Our early schedule breeds success but week 5 will be our first real test.... Blue should have a good season..... Anywhere from 6-4 to 3-7......
Re: GAHS VS MEIGS

Re: GAHS VS MEIGS
On Meigs' last possession with the varsity, GAHS had a bunch of backups in and Meigs did march down the field, but got turned away on 4th down after a penaly called a TD back. Most of their yardage had to come on that drive.
Re: GAHS VS MEIGS
This scrimmage is probably not a real good guage of whats to come... Gallipolis will
continue to improve, just like last year... Not sure about Meigs ....
