Glad to see coach Penrod coming back. I think there will be a almost immediate turn around in the on field product. Not that will make much a difference in the win loss record for a while. But what the Blue Devils have been lacking for a while is a head coach. A person to have a vision and a formulated plan with everyone moving in the right direction and setting everyone up to be successful.

I wish coach the best of luck and hope the public gives him some time. Because the improvement will take time to turn around the win loss record.

Alex Penrod graduated from Logan in 2002. Was the QB on Logan's 10-1 team in 2001 that hosted the school's first playoff game (losing to Dublin Coffman and Brady Quinn, 20-14).

He was an assistant at GAHS, including D-Coordinator on their 2012 playoff team under Coach Eddy, and then left for Alexander where he has been the last three seasons compiling a record of 16-16 including a 10-2 season in 2015 where the school won the TVC title, swept every Athens County schools (first time anyone did it since 1991ish). Alexander won a playoff game for the first time as well.

He's one of the best young coaches in SE Ohio. If everything gets finalized, GAHS football will be back.

He also had a big hand with gallia academy quarterbacks while he was here. Does a great job getting the kids to but in to what they can do best to help the team win He also is a great at getting the boys involved in community and community involved and backing the team.. It wont be done overnight. But i think you will see a different almost immediately in intensity of play.

Congrats to Coach Penrod.

And congrats to the Gallipolis community. Excellent hire. AP will put everything he has into this job. It will take a lot of work, and there isn't an easy fix, but Penrod will get the Blue Devils back on track.
