I would like to see us drop all of the OVC teams and pick up some teams that win games so we could benefit from some second level points. We need to be playing teams that are consistently good teams every year. I want to see us playing D-II or D-III schools.iluvlucy wrote:Yea, but why not drop one of the other OVC teams and pick CG back up? I think you don't get the point, when you have soph. and fresh. scoring touchdowns what are you going to do. There is no coach in this area that is going to ask their young kids not to play hard when they get their chance for some playing time on friday nights.earp wrote:When its 60-0 though what difference does a 2 point or a 1 point conversion make is my point! When you are on the recieving end of that it doesnt seem that way!
Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
If Coach wanted to run up the score he could have named it. RH never ran any time off the clock the whole game. Most times it was 3 incompletes and a punt for RH with about 30 seconds off the clock. West could've ran the ball the whole game and beat them by 90 legitemately if they wanted to. So why make an issue of something like one extra point. Did anyone mention that West took a knee 2 or 3 times to end the game down on about their 10. If they wanted to run up the score, why didn't they try for 70?
Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
I would like to see West schedule a couple games with a Nelsonville York, Gallia Academy, or a some other similar teams that aren't 100 miles away. Don't loose sight that we are borderline D4-D5, so even though we're really on an up swing right now and will be for a while, you will have dips in talent and you don't want to schedule yourselves 4 non-conference losses. With the way our league is up now, we just need a balanced schedule of really good not great teams. On scheduling DII schools, you have to be careful there. That is a huge difference in numbers.

I would be careful what you wish for. Eventually the OVC will have a few good teams and you will have a down year or three. I havent even seen either teams play but based on what I hear, West could PROBABLY beat Ironton this year. After this year though...I seriously doubt it. And again, thats just my opinion. Hopefully West and Ironton meet up some day real soon. Be a game I would not miss. Just hope this game is injury free and both teams come out unscathed for conference play.

If West made no pass attempts they would certainly be capable of scoring triple digits, but I doubt by the half.Boonedawg wrote:Wonder if it's possible to score triple digits by halftime?

We played West my freshmen year and we smashed them pretty bad 98-99, I can't remember if they came to our place the next season but if they did we probably smashed them again. The tables will turn at some point so you always have to be careful.

We have talent coming up for years to come
Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
There are schools that are border line DII-DIII, jackson and chillicothe so there are teams we can play with that is all I'm saying.siderman wrote:I would like to see West schedule a couple games with a Nelsonville York, Gallia Academy, or a some other similar teams that aren't 100 miles away. West has very few seniors this year. We start 1 senior on the oline and have several talented linemen in the freshman through junior classes. QB is a junior. We have a slew of really good young backs. West will start basically all Juniors and Seniors next year. I honestly think we'll be better next year.ovc fan wrote:I would be careful what you wish for. Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
The score was 62-0 and the "Junior Varsity" took a knee. C'mon now earp, if Fairland was ahead of another team by let's say 60-0, YOU would have the 3rd stringers go hard for playing time.
Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
Well we could throw this one around all day,So Fairland hasnt been a good series for West guys? You guys are talking about dropping all OVC teams,We have beaten West our share of times and it was a 15-14 game last year!

Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
Fairland has been a a great series for West, its a tough game every year regardless of the score...When we scheduled all of these Ovc teams the conference was up...South Point was probably consitently one of the top teams in the league, Rock Hill who we've played since the 90's was a playoff team in 03,05,07, and Chesapeake was coming of a streak of dominance in the Ovc and playoff runs...but every since about 07-08 the ovc has been down it just happens in cyclesearp wrote:Well we could throw this one around all day,So Fairland hasnt been a good series for West guys? You guys are talking about dropping all OVC teams,We have beaten West our share of times and it was a 15-14 game last year!
Re: Week 5 - Chesapeake at West
At least we don't have to travel to Columbus, or some other 2 hour bus trip. West can't complain, there have been points in the OVC for years. Just in a down stretch.

Right You are "Jake Lane"!!!!! We don't need to be spending Money on Traveling to Col. or Cincy to play, We can use that money for other things. Like "sider" said these Leagues and Programs go through Cycles and Believe Me They'll come back around, We just need to have patience.
West will be a very good Football Team for the next several years, and with Coach "T" and Company have a very Good Program. So Glad to see Our Football Program back to where it Once was!!!!!!!!
P.S. Maybe even a Little Better!!!!!!!!!! JMO

In 99 they started six freshman so you should have, those six freshman went on to play in a state championship game.peake wrote:We played West my freshmen year and we smashed them pretty bad 98-99, I can't remember if they came to our place the next season but if they did we probably smashed them again.
