SOC2: Minford (5-0) @ Wheelersburg (3-2)
Re: SOC2: Minford (5-0) @ Wheelersburg (3-2)
Minford beat Oak Hill when Oak Hill was out Sloan ( div 1 prospect QB) and Maynard (Awesome wide reciever and second leading rusher). NOW tell us that one or two players don't make a difference...would Burg have won without Shankwiler?

that appeared to me to be a good call, the db had steg wrapped up pretty goodBurg#1 wrote:28Buck wrote:I never said they helped the Pirates? Where you pulling that one out of? The only three I believe were called wrong were the holding on that play discussed earlier, the roughing the kicker which from vantage point looked like a very nice acting job and PI called on butcher. Stegman and Butcher were both jostling, the ball was severely underthrown Butcher attempts to come back to the ball and Stegman has a hold on the back of Butchers jersey/shoulder pads. Like ive stated already, the Burg was by far the better team tonight and wanted the game way more than Minford. Good luck the rest of the season!Burg_Grad_77 wrote:Burg had 9 penalties for 90 yards and Minford had 6 for 43. Burg had 5 for 35 in the first half and Minford had 5 for 38, so the Falcons only had 1 penalty for 5 yards the entire second half while the Burg had 4 for 55 and yet the refs helped the Pirates. Get a clue dude. The refs did not help the Burg to a 45-0 lead.
28Buck- from our view you actually see the defensive players holding onto the front of stegmans jersey and stegman couldnt move to jump when he tried to jump the defensive player held onto him pretty good. It was a good call

tell me not, that the mighty falcons went down. Now, do they get a refund for those state championship rings they ordered? Just wondering

WOW---congrats burg--good kicking,D ,O, and everything else last night. It looked like Minford called it a night after they got down a couple of scores. I'm sure they wanted to keep fighting but they probably knew in their hearts that you can't get behind a couple of scores at the Burg. If you aren't winning, or at least close then your in for a long night. Good job and good luck to both teams the rest of the way.

Re: SOC2: Minford (5-0) @ Wheelersburg (3-2)
Like I said earlier, I can't say enough about the effort of The Burgs's players. They really played their guts out. But the game-plan the coaches came up with was the key. They used every strength Minford had, against them, while using every strength they had perfectly!!! The Burg fans should be proud, to come into a game at home the underdog, and put a whoppin on my Falcons like that.
But we can't give up on the Mighty Falcons. This might be just what we needed. A smack in the mouth, to let them know that they can be beat, if they don't play every play with all they got. I don't think we will see that Minford team on the field again this year. I think we will see the Minford team that is willing to work hard, and give it all they have. They let all the talk get into their heads, and I think they will take this loss, and learn from it.
Falcon fans don't give up!! How many times in football have you seen this happen? When you come off a huge win, and then you have a major let down afterwards. Minford is not the only team to ever do this, and we won't be the last. It's just like when Ohio State played Florida for the National Champ. who would have thought Florida would have had a chance. NOBODY!!! This thing just happens, we can still make this a great season, and still win the Gold Football, and even make the play-offs.
Like I said, Great Job by The Burg, and Good Luck the rest of the year!!! Who knows, maybe we will see you again.
Proud to be a Falcon!!!

Couldn't agree more 77. The refs in noway shape or form helped burg win. They were just fired up from the openin kickoff.Burg_Grad_77 wrote:Burg had 9 penalties for 90 yards and Minford had 6 for 43. Burg knew comin in that they had nothin to lose and everything to gain. They were outside the top 8 lookin in whille the falcons were number 1 in the region and correct me if i'm wrong but number 5 in the state. So for burg it was lose and it's just another L but for the falcons they lose and they more than likely don't get the the number 1 seed but also the gold ball
Yes the burg also wats the gold ball but they knew they were the underdogs and they played that to their momentum the whole night and beat by far (and i never thought i would ever say this) but they beat by far the best team in region 19.Sorry oak hill but that is just MHO
Re: SOC2: Minford (5-0) @ Wheelersburg (3-2)
Minford is far from overated I can tell you that much. Everyone thought all week " Oh we beat oak hill and they beat burg" I can almost bet that was going thru some of their minds. The Burg just simply took us to the endzone with them an by that i mean our D line was getting absolutely demolished up front an our linebackers were getting drilled. As a former linebacker it's rediculously hard trying to make a play when there line is on you from the start. From the get go we showed no emotion or seemed like we were even playing a football game last night. This is where me and every other falcon fan is nervous to see, How are they going to take this loss? They going to pitty on it, learn from it or what? Seasons not over yet boys. They should be hungry and ready to be reckless the rest of the season and build off of there mistakes more and more until they're satisfied.

Minford was unfocused and this lead to multiple mental breakdowns. Unbelievable

I think this game shows just how important Oak Hill's QB is to his team.
Re: SOC2: Minford (5-0) @ Wheelersburg (3-2)
Bottom line: W’burg knows their backs are against the wall as one more loss, it could be basketball season, they came to play and Minford didn’t. As usual, the game is won and lost in the trenches, and W’burg definitely won the line of scrimmage all night long. Minford isn’t over rated as the week before they whipped Oak Hill in the trenches and we know what Oak Hill did to the Pirates. Hale and that O-line of the Oaks is what beat W’burg and not the arm of Slone.
The Minford team is much better than the score indicated they just gave W’burg the ball 3 times in the first quarter deep in their own territory and the Pirates pounced all over the opportunities. When a team goes down by 3 scores in highschool football, they’re usually finished. Like last year, a visiting team came into this game a little too cocky and it turned out to be to their demise.
As when there is adversity it really helps define the person you really are, I feel this loss will help define what kinda team these Minford Seniors will want to be remembered as in years to come.

I'm an Adena alum, and all i heard on the radio was how Piketon's only loss was to minford, and how fast, and physical they are. Sounds like the Schank kid, and the Burg handed it too them pretty easily. Guess that shows exactly how weak the SVC is this year..

frank n beans ,,does that mean that if Wellston had their Qb that the Oak Hill Wellston game would have been different?
Re: SOC2: Minford (5-0) @ Wheelersburg (3-2)
Watching the game on the zone tonight. Didnt get there last night to watch the game. From what i was told, no backs up against the wall burg team, just a team that showed their potential in an experienced oline, hard runners and a QB who is coming along just fine. On D, I heard shank at LB (1st time at position all game) and some other moves from last 2 weeks that really have made a diff. Will see after I watch the game.

^ Take one more loss to Valley and/or West and see what happens. No SOCII and no playoffs.
