This was a really great game. I would say that it was for sure Top Ten. Besides the games already mentioned, one of the greatest I remember was another one against Ironton. In 1980, both teams fought to a draw.

What was up with the Jackson announcer telling Ironton's band it was illegal for them to play when Jackson's offense was on the field? I have never heard of such a thing!! But I guess it was okay for Jackson to play when Ironton's offense was on the field.

I believe that is the rule though. Can't be any worse than Ironton's announcer, can it? I was at the Alder game when your announcer yells over the loudspeaker, "What was the call refs," or something to that effect when your player was thrown out of the game.

That is not the rule and just for the record, no PA announcer has any authority at any contest. If the officials consider it an issue, they are to report it to the OHSAA but not stop it during the game.

I've never known it to be a rule. We did it all the time when I was in the band.

Don't get me started on our announcer.

Best game ever at Alumni Stadium that we won.....I'm sure Gallipolis and Marietta would rank those particular wins as one of their best games ever witnessed.

Jackson physically dominated Ironton in the 1st half but just had a 7 point lead. That didn't last long. We seemed to move at will until about midfield and then would have multiple 1st down plays that stayed very near the line of scrimmage for 2nd down.

HUGE win....but won't mean much if they don't win the remaining games that they are capable of.

I was also curious about the announcement last night so I looked it up and got the answer from the OHSAA Athletic Directors 2010 Football Manual. Page 9 Section G under guidelines for bands and under guidelines for Announcers -section A #8.

i hope this post goes through , my computer is in bad shape, have not been able to get on in 3 days. wow, what a barnburner of a game. ironton was extremely flat the first half. then came out and scored in 80 yards , in 2 plays. to tie it up. too many mistakes and arm tackling.

it's hard to get anything to go through, monday. i have a date with dell. on the phone.we really got gashed by the run in the first half. very poor tackling. but jackson has a big line as well. just seems like we're not watching rb's hips, and taclking through players , but just reaching for them.

At the Gallia Academy vs. Logan game 3 times during the game when gallia had the ball on offense right before they snapped the ball the anouncers started playing music over the PA. The referees stopped the game and told the Logan sideline that the next time it happened it would be a 15 yard penalty. It is in fact a rule.
