Re: SEOAL Championship: Jackson @ Gallia Academy
1999 has nothing to do with 2010, the current seniors were all of 6 years old at that time. If Jackson's QB can't play I'm sure Coach Hall and his staff will have a game plan in place to go without him. I haven't read any thing on this forum that would indicate Jackson fans are already making excuses for the loss next Friday. With or without their starting QB the Ironmen fully expect to win this game and capture an outright league championship. By the way the score to that 1999 post season game was 35-7.

Gallia Academy will not turn the ball over much.
Chillicothe played darn near perfect and Gallia Academy will as well.

Re: SEOAL Championship: Jackson @ Gallia Academy
Jackson and Gallia Academy played in Week 9 during the 1999 season. Both teams had already lost to Logan, I believe, and still had an SEOAL game left to play in Week 10, so the title wasn't really on the line. There is absolutely no way that Jackson and Gallia Academy will meet in the first round of the playoffs this season, and as was already mentioned, no one from Jackson is making excuses about the injury to Kip Winchester. Basically, this is pretty much nothing like 1999.Blue_Steel wrote:Ok, no one else has brought it up so I will. This game has similar ringings to the 1999?season Playing for league title, Jackson has to play Gallipolis without possibly their "best " player. They lose to Gallipolis without him and all we heard was crying how had "best" player been there they would have won... Then both team made playoffs and Jackson was going to have "best"player back. So they got what they wanted,a healthy team and a 2nd shot at GAHS. Can someone remind me what happened. it was a few years back and my memory isn't what it used to be. cant remember player, i think 99 was the year, cant remember scores of either game. I myself would like to give Jackson a chance to repeat that season though!
It's actually more like 1995. Jackson had already clinched a share of the league championship before heading to Gallia Academy for their final league game. The Ironmen lost 14-13 to the Blue Devils, which allowed Gallia to claim a share of the league title, along with Warren. It's up to the Ironmen to make sure that history doesn't repeat itself this time.
Re: SEOAL Championship: Jackson @ Gallia Academy
Exactly. There is NO WAY, I repeat NO WAY, that Gallia Academy is going to play a sloppy game this week. They will be surpremely focused, they will take care of the football, and I highly doubt that they will commit 100 yards worth of penalties. The Jackson Ironmen will have to play their "A+" football game to win in Gallipolis. Can they do that? Of course they can, and I think they will, but it's not going to be easy. This will be an absolute battle.Ironman92 wrote:Gallia Academy will not turn the ball over much.

gahs4ever,
It was a painful night for Ironmen fans. I was standing about 30 feet away from Johnny King as that punt slipped away from him. I remember him laying on the turf, face down, for what seemed like a solid minute after Gallia Academy had recovered. Johnny was a great player for Jackson, one who made very few mistakes during his career. I felt awful for him that night.
Interesting note about that game. Ryan Hall, Jackson's TE and kicker, had to leave the game after a Jackson TD for having blood on his jersey. He wasn't able to kick the PAT, and it was missed, leaving Jackson with only a 13-7 lead. As we all know, that missed extra point ended up being very costly. Just one of the many crazy instances that we've all witnessed during this rivalry.

Re: SEOAL Championship: Jackson @ Gallia Academy
1999 was when Jackson and Gallia Academy had both lost to Logan, which is what I pointed out to blue steel.gahs4ever wrote:
Jackson came into the game 8-0 and GAHS was 6-2. GAHS didnt lose to Logan that year. We beat them 30-24. We DID lose to Coal Grove and an OT home loss to Warren. So Jackson was seen as the prohibitive favorite and our win over the Ironmen was considered an upset.
I believe in week 10 Jackson also lost to Ironton (?) or was it N-Y?
Jackson played Ironton during Week 10 in 1995.

williams of gallia will run up and down the field on jackson.jackson has nothing
(I REPEAT NOTHING!!!!)now that their qb is injured they should be easy to figure out.sory jackson you played only two team that were worth mentoning 1 welston 2 chillicothe and now you can add gallia to that list gallia wins the seoal and heads for week 11 GO DEVILS!

Re: SEOAL Championship: Jackson @ Gallia Academy
If Jackson has nothing now their qb is out, and the mighty cavs is the only team they played this year, then how did they march it down the field with their back-up qb which (he had no time to prepare for the mighty cavs and took over late in the fourth). Then they stuff right at the cavs for a two point conversion to win the game with less than a minute to play. Plus everybody in the stadium knew what the play call was going to be. If the cavs were so good how come they couldnt stop the drive when it actually mattered? Since we have nothing and beat you with nothing I guess that makes you the only real time we played?
