Athens County Tailgating Championship

The Athens County Tailgate Champion will be crowned on Saturday November 13th at the Pit Stop in Nelsonville. The festivities will kick off at noon.

Athens County Children Services will have two trucks there. We are doing a toy drive to help the children of Athens County. Toys must be NEW and in the package, if they wanted old ones I could fill up the trucks from my house. We will have the best food of the year available for you to enjoy. Bring a toy and throw it in the truck and you'll get a wrist band that allows you to enjoy all the great chow. Don't want to bring a toy, a donation of 5 bucks will get you a wrist band. The fine folks from Donatos,Kiser's BBQ Shack and Rider Insurance are starting the trucks off with $300 in toys. We will also donate $100 to the football team of the community that donates the most toys.

I will definitely be there but I am not sure you will have enough food with me being there. This is a great thing you are doing. I am proud to say that the Sultan mentioned me on his show last week. Just hope we can get some people out to put toys in the trucks. Don't do any advertising which might hurt if people forget about it. It is a good cause, the people at children services do a wonderful job. Come on out and help the children of Athens County. If we can get some toys in the trucks crowning the champ will just be icing on the cake.

Just got home from a meeting with team captains from each school. I think we have a great event planned. Hope to see plenty of people and lots of toys. If you pull between auto zone and the pit stop there is parking back there.

Spent the evening at Wal Mart. Big thanks to Wendy's, Donato's, Kiser's BBQ Shack and Rider Insurance. They filled up two heaping carts with toys for Saturday.

Talked to one of the Nelsonville Youth Football Coaches last night. They are planning some thing big for Saturday!

Coach Dean and those young men should have recieved a standing ovation. Things like that is why I call Nelsonville home and I am proud to have great young people like that in our community.

I had an outstanding time today. The food was great and the people were better.
A BIG thank you needs to go out to Rusty and the rest of the people who worked hard to make this happen. There are family's who will be able to give Christmass to there kids because of this event. God Bless the wonderful people of Athens county.
