come on 85, we lost the game, those boys from Eaton were not taking cheap shots , thats just happens sometimes in physical games as was this one . Proud of how both teams played . No quit in the ironman after being down 19-0 .Good luck to Eaton the rest of the way.

First of all, congratulations to the Eaton Eagles. They are an outstanding football team with an explosive offense and a stout defense. Good luck next week and beyond. I truly believe that the Eagles are capable of making a nice run in the playoffs and I will be rooting for them to do so. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the game and the fine people of Eaton were great hosts. Don't pay attention to much of what was said on here this week. Jackson fans knew this would be a difficult task, and it turns out it certainly was. Great win for the Eagles.

I was worried that Eaton's spread offense would be a little too much for our defense, and it appears that I was right. I did think that the Ironmen would be able to control the time of possession, keeping Eaton's "O" on the sidelines for extended periods of time, but it didn't really turn out that way. Jackson had some success running the football, but they just couldn't sustain it. Four or five trips into the red zone, but only one TD to show for it. You have to give credit to Eaton's defense for standing tall when it mattered most. They were the better football team.

I would also like to say congratulations to the Jackson Ironmen. They may have lost tonight, but they have nothing to hang their heads about. They're a great group of young men who put together one of the most memorable seasons in Jackson football history. Nine wins, the 8th playoff berth in school history, and they brought the SEOAL championship back to Jackson. For those accomplishments, and also for the way they handled themselves all season, they should forever be proud.

Each and every Ironman played their heart out tonight, and that's all that can be asked of them. Kip Winchester played a gutsy football game with a torn ACL, pushing through the pain and playing hard for his school and his teammates. The Jackson seniors, each one of them, gave a great effort in their last football game wearing the Red & White. My heart goes out to Klay Arthur, who sat out most of the final three quarters with an apparent shoulder injury. Klay had an outstanding season, one of the best by a RB in school history, and I'm very sorry that he wasn't able to finish out that season the way he would have liked...out there battling with his teammates until the final whistle.

To the Jackson underclassmen...You were a part of a great Jackson football team and now you have had a taste of the playoffs and an SEOAL championship. It's time to continue that tradition next season. Wellston is up next, and you know how much that one will mean. And, by the way, you have an SEOAL title to defend. Put in the time this off-season and prepare to be great next year!

Finally, thank you once again to the Jackson seniors. You may have put on the Red & White for the final time, put you are forever a part of the Ironmen tradition. We're very proud of you and we will remember what you did for this town, school, and football program forever.

Our lineman enjoyed reading your comments about how they were going to get pancaked and our d-back thought they might show how soft they were. Our QB is feeling just fine, thank you!

Congrats to the Ironmen players on a great season, they seem to be a fine team of young men.
Enough is enough, you talk about all of our trash talk and here you are. Our posts have been very respectful with the exception of few. So I believe you have your comments backwards.

Congratulations Eaton. I was very impressed with what I witnessed tonight. The Eagles played with a lot of emotion and the High School football atmosphere was terrific. It was a great environment to be a part of.

The officiating raised a few eye brows a few times, but there were no calls that decided the score in any way, thankfully. I was upset to hear the Ironmen fans chanting against the officials. The officials didn't put up 26 points tonight, the Eagle's offense did that. I was disappointed with one instance i had with a fan when Jackson QB Kip Winchester slid on 3rd down, rather than trying to get 5 more yards and taking the hit. The fan yelled, "thats what kind of heart these kids have". This upset me for a numerous amount of reasons. This is just uncalled for. A team full of kids that have done nothing but play their hearts out the last two months for you, and now you're going to question that heart. What this fan said made me sick to my stomach. I thought everyone in Jackson knew that Kip Winchester was playing with a torn ACL, appearently this guy didn't so I felt the need to enlighten him on that.

These young men have done nothing but good things all season long (yes, even against Wellston). They've proven many people wrong. They never once bought in to negativity that some people brought to them. They've played football every week, and they've played it well. What other group of kids could play a week one game with all the pressure on them in the world, lose and win the next 9 games and make the playoffs? I'll tell you, there isnt a team! There's not a group of kids like this one. The score doesn't show anything about the game, other than whose winning and whose losing. And for those who believe winning is everything, I feel sorry for you because you're missing out on a lot of other good things. The score doesn't show how hard a group of kids play. The score doesn't show the tears these young men shed, after losing something they wanted so badly. The score doesn't show how hard they worked for this all week in practice. The score doesn't show that this group is going to go on and be great people in life and do successful things. So for those who are stuck on the score of the game, you may want to open your other eye before you start discussing heart.

Now that I'm done ranting, I would like to congratulate the 2010 Jackson Ironmen Football Team. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that you have made this community so proud. You made your goals, worked for them and accomplished them. You completed the regular season 9-1.You won every home game. You are the 2010 SEOAL Undisputed Champions. You are a 2010 Ohio State Playoffs Contender. This is the legacy you left behind you. You've set these standards for underclassmen. I have a quote I used to tell myself: Play for the Past, Set Standards for the Future. You guys did just that. You have raised the bar and got the Jackson Ironmen Football Program back where it needs to be. Our town thanks you for that and you will continue to be praised for years to come.

To the seniors, you were faced with a dilemma early in the season. Do we fight back down 0-1? Or do we pick it up, work hard and finish the season showing people what we were capable of? You guys chose to show us all. And man, you didn't disappoint. I could go on and on about each and every one of you guys. I'm so proud of you guys and I couldn't be happier for you and the way you handled the adversity you faced all season long. I can't commend you enough on the heart and desire you played with all season long. Thank you all for the many memories you've given me on and off the field, with me and without me. You've had some great careers. Don't forget about tonight's game, but don't let it overshadow your many accomplishments all season long. And for those who may want to move on to the next level, DO IT. If you don't you may end up regretting it. Trust me on this one.

Once an Ironman, always an Ironman.

Before I say anything, I want to appologize for any comments that came out wrong. It always sounds better in my brain. I am human, and sometimes my mouth reminds me of that.

Last night was a battle for both teams, and like I stated earlier, this game will help prepare either one for the next level. Jackson played with intensity and desire from the start to the finish and have everything to be proud of. The Jackson fans were respectful and polite. Eaton, I hope, was hospitable and polite as well. Good luck to all of the graduating seniors, and to the underclassmen who will carry on the winning tradition.

For the fan that had issue with Kip Winchester's lack of heart.......I want to thank him for making my imature thoughtless comments earlier look mild in comparrison. Winchester is just one of many young men who laid it all on the field last night.

Congrats to Eaton...the better team by a good bit last night. I thought we would have to play very well to win and we didn't play our best game. Not having Klay most of the game killed us on both sides of the ball....but everyone gave it their all and take away the ridiculous 3rd and 28 conversion for a TD...well I sure would've liked to see it at 12-7 instead of 19-7 to start the 4th qtr as we just had a drive starting to wear them down a little....but again, the better team won.

Great job by Eaton of just making every hit on defense a noticeable one. Hardest hitting team I can rememeber play against Jackson. Eaton also did a tremendous job of bringing in stands and it was easily the best smelling visitor section!

As for Klay getting injured....felt horrible for him but years down the road when anyone with any clue is conversing about the best Jackson Ironmen running backs....your name will always be mentioned and deservedly so....tremendous season.

Great season Jackson...SEOAL Champions....you'll have to work even harder to defend it!

Very good post. Jackson's staff deserves a lot of credit for this season, in addition to the players. We're lucky to have a staff that cares so much about the kids, and the football program in general.

I saw plenty of heart on that field last night. I actually drove past the field this morning and saw some heart that was left behind. Those Jackson kids played with plenty of it. I never saw them giving up just because they were behind by a couple of scores. It was a physical game and I am sure there are plenty of Eaton and Jackson players that will be sore for a few more days.

From an Eaton fan, I hope everyone from Jackson had a great time at Eaton. I know the seating was not the best, but hopefully all of you enjoyed a great game. I know what was meant about having a great smelling visitor's side. The smoke from the grill always seems to blow that way. We were trying to distract the players and make them hungry. LOL... Jackson's team had great size and they moved better than I thought. I did think it was hard hitting by both teams. I did see that Arthur was hurt early on in the game but did return. What was his injury. We also sustained 2 substantial injuries last night. Late in the 4th qtr we had a d-lineman / o-lineman and team captain go down with an ankle injury. He had hurt it 3 weeks ago and missed a game, but came back for this one and hopefully he can come back again. We also lost another d-lineman and a captain at the beginning of the 4th qtr with a shoulder injury. He said he does not know what is exactly wrong, but he said he was hurting. These 2 are very important to Eaton's team physically as well as mentally. Hopefully they will be able to come back this week.

I also hope that no Jackson players were seriously injured.
Jackson showed a lot of class on and off the field. Good luck in the future and tell the players they should be proud !

The Jackson Ironmen were no doubt the most physical team that Eaton faced this year. For anyone to question the heart of those boys and ecspecially the QB playing with a torn ACL is absurd! I don't know how many boys you all have coming back but that was a fine team that you brought to Eaton. I thought your QB had the skill necessary to be a good passing QB but that is something that needs to be worked on throughout the year, your team definately had the athletes. It is good to be a balanced team, Eaton strives to obtain balance but the Ironmen forced us more to the pass but we are equally comfortable doing one or the other. Good luck to them boys, wish them all success.

Yodiak2,

Sorry to hear that the Eaton players sustained those injuries. Hopefully those guys will be ready to go against Shawnee. I don't know much about the rest of the teams in the region, but I have to believe that Eaton is talented enough to win Region 12. French has a very strong arm and his accuracy is outstanding. The Eagles' backs and and receivers are an extremely talented group, and I was most impressed with Wilson. The offensive and defensive lines have great size and strength, and the linebackers and secondary are quick and athletic. Definitely the total package, in my opinion.

I haven't heard exactly what Arthur's injury was, but I'm thinking it was a seprated shoulder. He left the game early in the 2nd quarter, I believe. He never returned on defense, but did try to give it a go on the next offensive series or two. The medical staff decided to hold him out of the game after that, and he didn't return in the second half. Klay is a very tough kid and I'm not surprised he tried to go back out there and play through the injury. I really wish he could have finished out the game since it was his last one as an Ironman, but even with him in there, the Eaton defense was just too strong overall to overcome.
