D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg

Post by Orange_N_Black_Fan »

Looks like another orange & black matchup ?
I think Burg being at home get it done, Burg is a very hot team
right now! I also think the West game could not have been played
at a better time heading in to the post season kind of a gut check if you will.
No doubt the Burg has been battle tested, having seen good Offenses with
good QB's, RB's and good D-Lines with decent secondary's.
The Burg has improved each week by making good adjustments on both sides
of the ball, credit the coaching staff on moving players around to get the best
matchup's and giving themselves the opportunity to compete and capture the
SOC II championship and a playoff berth.
Who would have thought at the beginning of the season for a team that was
wrote off not only by outsiders but Burg fans as well !!
I know this !! Ridgewood will come to play and not for the ride?
But I like the Pirates by 12 in this one.....GO BURG!!

Coshocton and Ridgewood are about 6 miles from each other, and they both have to make a LONG trip, Coshocton to play Ironton on Friday, and Ridgewood to play Burg on Saturday. Makes you wonder why the OHSAA divides the state into regions, maybe they should just take the top 32 in each division.

This appears to be a game between 2 evenly matched teams, as both like to run the ball, and their defensive strength is stopping the run. I would think the Burg has the slight advantage playing at home, much like 3 years ago when these 2 hooked up. No doubt Burg has played the tougher schedule, but Ridgewood did win the region last year after a weak regular season schedule. Should be a good one.

Just last year, Ridgeweed made pretty much the exact same trip, only to Minford, and smacked the Falcons hard. I think the Burg takes this one. Any team that can beat Valley by three scores has my respect.

Represent the SOC II Wheelersburg. Ridgewood was pretty good last year but I don't know what all they brought back. Had blistering speed last year all over the field.

not a real good draw for the burg imho. ridgewood was tough last year. just like ironfalcon says, lots of speed over the field. they were very impressive till they ran into the buzzsaw that is ursuline. hopefully they graduated a lot of that speed. i think burgs oline is the difference this this time and burg escapes with the win. it would be pretty cool to see a burg vs oakhill or minford rematch in week 13 for the region championship.

2 wide, dont let them load the box, I formation and run right at them. Big guys up front with good gap blocker can wear down a smaller, fast team. They always say run at speed. Its another thing to contain that jet sweep tho from the Wood. Interesting game.

Probably not as much speed this year for Ridgewood, but still very good speed at the skill positions. I would say the O-Line this year is a little bigger but somewhat slower. Overall though not a big team by any means. Backs are not big, but run hard. One over 1,000 yards, and the other two probably around 500-600 each. QB is solid (third year starter) and does not make mistakes. One pick all year I think, and has completed about 70% of his passes. On defense their strength is stopping the run. Not an overly big D-line, but pretty athletic. Linebackers are quick. Of the 84 points they gave up this year over half were put up on the 2nd and 3rd teams when the games were decided early. This will be Ridgewood's 4th straight year coming to Southern Ohio. They travel well and will bring a good crowd. This is their 8th straight playoff appearance. The Burg will be the best team they have faced all year by far, but they are a scrappy, tough bunch of kids and will come to play.

Could possibly also be a Minford/NY vs Oak Hill matchup in round 2 in Alumni Stadium. I hope you won't be watching any games in Alumni Staduium in week 2 anyway, and you will be watching the Ironmen playing week 2.

This game will not be a rout by any means! Ridgewood is just as good as they were last year, I have seen it 1st hand!
