Re: D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg
Ridgewood lost their Mr. Everything (Jake Conrad) last year to graduation. They did have a couple other nice backs that were not seniors, but they were not comparable to Conrad.
They had a line that looked like a bunch of tall basketball shooting guards that were very fast and deceivingly strong for their size.
Is the Conrad boy playing college ball anywhere?
I think Burg by 21.

No self respecting Wheelersburg fan is expecting anything other than a battle from Ridgewood. Wheelersburg will have to play their A game to win.
Re: D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg
Jake Conrad and Ridgewood's other good RB Colt Landis are playing football at Wittenberg University.
Re: D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg
Ridgewood has a good program and are very physical. I look for a great game. Burg's line again may be the difference in the game or maybe special teams.
Go Burg!!!!
Go Burg!!!!
Re: D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg
I don't think that burg has great teams each year, but those kids know that they can play with anybody, not only play with anybody they believe in their hearts that they can beat anybody. With kids like that, just one mistake is all they need to beat you. thats why i have to go with the burg in this one. imo not that close of a game.

The Burg plays with a lot of heart and they stay calm during diversity. I would love to see Burg and Minford play again. The Ed Miller Stadium will be rockin' come Saturday Night GO BURG!!!!
Re: D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg
Very intriguing matchup. I don't know the circumstances behind the scores, but I wasn't impressed looking at the final score of 19-13 between R'wood/Garaway, and even 23-6 between R'wood/Newcomerstown. Again final scores can be deceiving, but those aren't overly impressive teams. Garaway is decent/N'town is average. That's why I'm expecting Wheelersburg to win by a couple TD's.

We'll be there pretty early. Tailgating. Stop by and visit. Hoping to be there around 4 or round about.
I like Burg in this one, I think the Generals are gonna get hit hard, like Valley and Minford did. I think Burg is Peaking! How long I don't know.

Well this will mark the 4th straight trip to southern Ohio for the Wood. Seems almost like the Wood's 2nd home. The 1st 2 were unsuccesful, but the 3rd time was a charm. Burg has a very good program and a great site for a high school football game, great atmosphere last trip the Wood made to the Burg.
The Wood's schedule, or lack there of, makes it difficult to gauge how good this years squad is, but I promise you they will not be intimidated by the environment nor the Burg themselves. They will not back down and will match the physicality and enthusiasm of any opponent.
Last years semi final run has bolstered the expectations of the Wood's program.
With that being said it will take a great effort on the behalf of the Wood to leave Ed Miller stadium with a W and the team will expect to do just that,
Seeing the Burg Minford game, I was not impressed with Minford, not sure how good they truly are. More impressed with the outcomes, although didnt see for myself, of the Burg's games with Ironton and Oak Hill. Both are very good football teams and the scores indicate the Burg had a chance to win both games.
Any Minford fans agree with this thought...
#7 Schankweler reminds me alot of the Wood's 1st team D5 OFF POY Jake Conrad from last years squad.
#7 is a very good football player.

IMO Schank should win the same award. After an 0-2 start, they have rode him to 8 straight wins and a playoff berth. The beauty of the Burg though is as the season has went along, other players have stepped up and filled there roles nicely. They are more than a one man team, he is just at the top of that elite group. Probably the best back I've ever seen play at Burg and that is going back about 35 years. He has played RB, QB, WR, PR, KR(2 for TD's in one game), S, LB and I think I saw him taking water to a JV player in a blowout game.Yeah, he is that good.
If he is not the DIV V OFF player of the year, than that award is a joke.
Can't wait for Saturday to get there as this should be another dandy. The last time these two met it wasn't decided until the last few minutes of the game. The big play(s) of the last game was when the Burg scored 2 TD's within about a minute right before the half, the last one on a two play drive.
Good luck Pirates this Saturday and welcome back Ridgewood. Here's to a safe trip down and an injury free game for both teams.

No doubt Shank is really good. But dont forget that Conrad from Ridgewood led ENTIRE state in TDs and I believe rushing yards last year, in all divisions.
I think when you lead the state in those categories, you are going to win big awards.
That being said, I hope Shankweiler runs for 500 yards against the Wood Saturday night.

The player of the year is a joke award ? I suspect that D-V will have Akise Teague of Youngstown Ursuline win Player of the Year in D-V. Both his stats and strength of schedule will dwarf anyone else around. He might even win Mr. Football, but that would be a joke award.
Pathetic.

Re: D5 R19 #6 Ridgewood @ #3 Wheelersburg
Shank will get soc2 POY and prob it. POY seo maybe, due to his defensive and special teams stats. Also, the win vs Generals in 2007 we were in a spread offense. Quick scores were common. Thing is, this offensive line can get us those same quick scores. I hate to tout them up so much, cause if they are reading this, they get swelled heads and may get flat. But if they play as a single group, they cant be stopped. They may try to cutem like Centerburg did, but Shank is a different back and can get out in space quickly and get a reception for some yds. We waited WAY too long to get Jenkins in that game vs Centerburg and we got beat. It wont happen this time.yabbadabbadoo wrote:mother_nature wrote:Well this will mark the 4th straight trip to southern Ohio for the Wood. Seems almost like the Wood's 2nd home. Ridgewood caps off their 10-0 regular season with a first round exit. I don't think they'll be able to stop Shank. Wheelersburg by 3 Td's.
