It was great getting to take in the game tonight at Oak Hill's wonderful facilities. The Hornet fans travelled very well and showed great support. The Grove was simply outmanned in all aspects of the game tonight. It's been a great year and I think Coal Grove will once again have a nice foundation for next year. Good luck to the Oaks the rest if the way - you guys have a great team, great facilities, and a great band!

I am quite sure that Chesapeake fans are wanting daddy and baby boy to stick around a little longer :)

As for getting rid of the coaches didn't you people try that before!!!LOL It worked real well! They are one of the few teams that got to be able to play this weekend! That means they must be doing something well!! Get rid of them there is a lot of teams that would lioke to have them!!!
rocketblue,

The last time they changed, they hired from within (Nick Miller), that was a big mistake. I am not from Coal Grove, but I bet I know a bit more about their program than you. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for senior, he is a good man but he isn't the coach he once was. I think Junior is the one running the show these days.

Also, making it to the playoffs is a good accomplishment but, there are teams that are better that didn't make it. One off the top of my head is Lucasville Valley. Coal Grove needs to schedule tougher opponents and some coaching changes certainly wouldn't hurt. I just think that the coaches had a lot of talent that they failed to utilize.

Congrats to the Oaks on the win!!Weston Hale is a MONSTER!!It didnt help any that we werent hitting him until 5 yards from the scrimmage LOL!!I dont think it mattered though!!That 56 they have is a Monster also and he had like 11 Solo Tackels in the first half!!Great game from Bubba Wood!We moved the ball pretty good, but couldnt punch it in on that one drive that stalled at the 15!We will be back and Congrats to the Hornets on a GREAT season and to my nephew on a very good year also!I may go watch the Oaks play next week in Jackson or Portsmouth or Valley!

Still think Oak Hill vs. Minford will be played in Ironton

Minford to Ironton-------34 minutes/30 miles

Oak Hill to Ironton------40minutes/31 miles

Really can't get much more neutral than this.

I'll be at that game no matter if it's at Jackson or Ironton or Portsmouth.

I am not saying Valley is not better! I doubt anyone from CG would! While Bid Dad was gone CG had 2 new head coaches, both lost!!! CG is a small DV school! We do the best we can with what talent we have! CG was def down this year! And its been a while since they have had the size and talent they had in the 90's....look at the CG line compared to any school they played! Cg has no height or size! That hurts! As for Jr., felt he worked hard and coached my son well!

I drive from Minford to Ironton every day and I step on the gas. I dont make it in 34 minutes.

This game should and will probably be assigned to Jackson.

That tougher schedule is what put Grove in with 2 losses ahead of Valley a team that beat them.

Depite the loss the Hornets had a good season. Coming from where they where early in the decade to two consecutive playoff seasons is a great accomplishment for this team.

I wouldn't really say Coal Grove's schedule was better or tougher than Valley's. Top teams on Valley's schedule were better than Coal Grove's, while the bottom feeders on Coal Grove's schedule were better than Valley's. I'd say games against Portsmouth West, Minford, and Wheelersburg are going to prepare you better for the playoffs than games against Athens, Trimble, or Greenup County.

tigercannon,

I agree they have improved greatly. I just feel like they need to player tougher opponents so they can go further.

Exactly! That is the point I'm trying to make. Yes, they got a boat load of points for playing Athens and GC but they need to play better teams to better prepare for the playoffs.
