Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Not sure what the schedule will look like. I'm not sure if the contract with Ironton has been renewed, but I hope it is.
Marietta is gone since they left the SEOAL, and I have heard that they will be replaced in Week 8 with Columbus St. Charles, but I have also heard that's not a done deal yet.
Opponents that I know for sure are on the schedule would be Wellston, Waverly, Vinton County, Logan, Warren, Portsmouth, Chillicothe, and Gallia Academy.

Jackson will play St. Charles and Ironton next year.
2012 they will pick up Athens and wheelersburg.

Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Thanks, Texas 2.
Can't tell you how excited I am to see that the Ironmen will be playing Burg in the regular season in 2012. Athens is a much improved football team since their move from the SEOAL, so that should be an interesting game as well.
I would assume the schedule for 2011 will look like this then:
Week 1 - Wellston
Week 2 - Waverly
Week 3 - at Vinton County
Week 4 - at Logan
Week 5 - at Warren
Week 6 - Portsmouth
Week 7 - at Ironton
Week 8 - Columbus St. Charles
Week 9 - at Chillicothe
Week 10 - Gallia Academy

Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
That's a good looking schedule now just gotta figure out who's going to be starting for the 2011 ironmen losing a lot of starters but good group of under class men
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
The big unknown for Jackson next season will be the offensive and defensive lines, in my opinion. Jackson is essentially losing every starting lineman from this year's squad, with the exception of O.J. Barr at nose guard. That's going to be VERY tough to replace.
On offense, there are several possibilities in the backfield. Ervin, Landrum, and Parks could all be the starting QB, or they could play at other positions. Ty McNelly and Alec Osborne will be there at the WR position, Tyler Jeffers returns at tight end, and there are several other guys who will contribute as well. Also, can't forget that O.J. Barr will likely see an increased role on offense.
There are far fewer question marks defensively, in my opinion. You have Barr back at NG. Ervin, Landrum, and Jeffers all return at LB. McNelly and Osborne return at the corners, and Parks saw time at safety/linebacker as a freshman, so he'll be in there. To me, that seems like 7 returning starters on defense, which is a solid core group.
I'm sure the kids will be working extremely hard this off-season to get ready for Wellston and the SEOAL title defense. There are a lot of starting positions that will begin to be won during weightlifting and conditioning this winter, spring, and next summer. Should be interesting to see how things go.

Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Little of subject but has anybody heard if klay has had offers from any schools I was looking at the buckeyes recruiting site and they have klay listed on their list of running backs just wondering if any offers anywhere
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Ironmen85, I'm unsure of any offers Klay has, but I'm sure someone has something laying on the table for him. Between his athletic ability and his scholastic ability, he must have something in line. I'll let you know soon.
As far as returning Ironmen go, it's going to be very difficult to replace a class like the 2010 team. However, if there is a coach that can do it, it's Andy Hall. I have a very rough offensive sketch in my mind. I'll throw it out for you. I'll pitch my defensive idea at another time. Feel free to agree and disagree, just my opinion and a lot can change in a whole off-season.
QB- Nathan Parks or Steven Kearns. Should be a very competitive battle, both kids are smart and athletic.
RB- Drew Ervin should lead the Jackson rushing attack along with Morgan Landrum and OJ Barr, both played well when given chances this season.
WR- Ty McNelly should give Jackson their one stand-out receiver. Alec Osborne will give the QB another target in the passing game.
TE- Tyler Jeffers returns at starting TE, I expect to see Nick Bachtel in two-tight situations.
OL- Although many question this offensive line, I expect it to be a good one. David Ireland or Hunter McGowan will be giving the snaps. Nick Dye and Brandon Gilliland will see time on the O-Line. Tank Carter and Jacob Betschel would be my other two Offensive Lineman at this point in time. Don't be surprised to see Freshman Regan Williams get some time on varsity.
Other Offensive athletes would be Mitchell McCorkle, Steven Trepanier, Josh Cutright and Cain Wolford. The Ironmen have a lot to replace, but the talent is definitely there.
Again, ALOT can happen in an entire offseason, but I just can't wait that long to be talking football.

how did you hear that burg and jackson will play each other in 2012? what week will it be?Texas 2 wrote:Jackson will play St. Charles and Ironton next year.
2012 they will pick up Athens and wheelersburg.
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Mad Dogg,
I don't have an exact answer to your question, but I can narrow it down.
SEOAL games will be Weeks 6-10 in 2012, so non-league games for Jackson would be Weeks 1-5. I would assume that the first three games would stay the same for Jackson in this scenario, with Wellston, Waverly, and Vinton County. That would leave Weeks 4 and 5 for Athens and Wheelersburg. So, I'd say Jackson and Burg will play in Week 4 or 5, but that's just my best guess at this point. Maybe Texas 2 will have some better info for us.
XFactor5,
That's a good post. Thanks for the outlook. Do you think Jay Spires could see some time on the O-line? I would think he will be a major contributor on defense as well.

They said Klay wasn't at the basketball scrimmage as he was at Capital for football purposes.

Burg/ Rock Hill series ends after next season...Burg picked up Jackson while Rock Hill picked up Wellston.
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Ironman02, Yes, it is very possible that we will see Jay on the line on Friday nights. I just overlooked him as I was typing my predictions down. Jay works just as hard as any other kid during the off-season. It's very likely he will see a lot of time on this young offensive line.

Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Does Jackson have week 4 open? Nelsonville-York still has week 4 open. NY and Jackson had some pretty good matchups in the early/mid 90's.
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
NYBuckeye96,
Looks like Week 4 is filled for at least the next couple years. Jackson will go to Logan in Week 4 in 2011 and it appears that they will play Athens in Week 4 in 2012.

Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
I'd love to see either Jackson or Gallia Academy on the NY schedule again.
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Yeah, I enjoyed NY's running back stud going over 2,000 yards on us in a 40+ point blowout!
Re: 2011 Jackson schedule ?
Justin Gail was the real deal. That 48-7 win for Nelsonville-York was their only win over Jackson since the consolidation of their school. Jackson is 5-1 against Nelsonville-York and 37-5 against Nelsonville.
As NYBuckeye96 alluded to, the Ironmen and Buckeyes did play three times in the '90s.
1990 - Jackson 21 - Nelsonville-York 20
1991 - Jackson 44 - Nelsonville-York 22
1994 - Nelsonville-York 48 - Jackson 7
