Parochial School fined for recruiting
Parochial School fined for recruiting
This was in today's Columbus Dispatch, "OHSAA ruled that Elyria Catholic violated a recruiting bylaw and placed the school on probation and fined them $2,500....." Any more violations at the school would lead to being disqualified from OHSAA tournaments in that sport.. Does anyone know the violation?? To anyone's knowledge have other schools ever been fined or sanctioned for recruiting violations ?? 5 out of 6 state titles won by parochials and a week later OHSAA is getting tough on recruiting. Is this perfect timing or what??..LOL

according to a newspaper in the area a coach was turned in for talking to an 8th grager about coming to the school . the school was fined 2500.

At least five years back one of the big Catholic schools (e.g. St. Iggy, St. Xavier) got nailed by the OHSAA and were fined, and I believe suspended from post season competition for recruiting. It has been awhile, but it has happened before.

This story broke about three weeks ago, before the football finals.

inappropriate activities go on all over the state. Utica's softball program was sanctioned for coaching participation during off-season workouts. Also, there have been sanctions against girls basketball teams and Upper Arlington was turned in a few years back for the same thing as the Utica softball program.

If the O.H.S.A.A. would get of their rear-ends and actually look into this their would be a lot more schools in trouble.

the only reason parochials didn't win all 6 titles was because d2 did not have any involved. it's way deeper than this.
