A bunch of good Senior kids this year @ Ironton and I just don't mean on the football field. They will be a great addition to this area in future years!!!!

Last year 2 teams north of I70 made it, now there could be 4-5 or more. That makes it VERY difficult for a very good Wheelersburg team or a very good Nelsonville-York team to get in, or not have a 4-5 hour bus ride to a first round game.
Wayne County will probably get 2 in... either Norwayne, Smithville, or Waynedale... if things go right maybe all 3 will make it, but none of them are unbeatable powerhouses. I don't know what Ridgewood or Fredricktown have. Ridgewood has majorly upgraded their schedule by adding Martins Ferry, Liberty Center, and Apple Creek Waynedale. I don't think they can beat Ferry. The other two they can beat. Finally they probably won't have to go 10-0 in order to make the playoffs. I haven't read much about Fredricktown to know how much they graduated.

Then you now have Columbus Academy in 19 now. I have no idea what they have.

If I had to guess I would say SE Ohio will have 4 spots... 3 if Columbus Academy is a player this year.

Norwayne
Smithville
Ridgewood
Fredricktown
You are forgetting the team with the longest regular season winning streak in the state.
Bucyrus Wynford.
As for the Wayne county teams, the league champion will be a formidable foe, but that could be D4 Northwestern or D6 Dalton. They do play some good football in that league.
Fredricktown should be very good again.
Ridgewood will be Ridgewood , we will find out how good by week 4.

An 8-2 N-Y team may not be good enough this year in 19. It is so loaded, that 9-1 or 10-0 will be who makes it and some 10-0 will be on the road.

N-Y has a ton back, but a schedule with only 4 home games, and a stronger region will make it a HUGE chore for them to play in week 11.

First off the favorite in the WCAL is Norwayne and they are D4 this year and so is Northwestern. The team you could see from this league is Hillsdale (in WCAL but in Ashland County) or possibly Waynedale or Smithville. Wynford is another team that could make some noise. Wynford is always hard to get a read on cause their league does not challenge them. Im from Wayne County but recently graduated from Shawnee State so I think it would be cool to see a WCAL team play someone from down south (would be a long trip though).

Because you have Wayne County schools, and Winfield, and schools north of I70 that could affect the numbers of points needed for the playoffs. If NY has 20 computer points, last year they were in, this year it may not be enough.

I say N.Y. will go 7-3. But if they go 8-2 i still doubt they get in with the new teams involved now. They better come out and whip on the two small schools they play early on if they wana have a chance. Bottom line in my opinion is N.Y. needs to beat N.C. if they want in this year. Thats not an easy task

N-Y needs to beat either NC or Logan to get in, if they don't, they will be home week 11 at 8-2.

I live in Wayne County and I can assure you none of these teams are all that. Hillsdale at 9-1 had the most points of any WCAL team and they only had 16.55 pts. Last year they wouldn't have even made the playoffs in R19. Go back a couple years at joe eitel and the WCAL teams just don't seem to pile up a lot of points. Also, I've seen my share of Wayne Co games and none of their teams impress me other than Orville which is D4 and not part of the WCAL; no WCAL will step up and play them.

Bascially you traded the PVC (now in R17) for the WCAL. From top to bottom the WCAL is a better league, but the PVC usually pushed for 2 spots in R19 too most recently being Monroe Central and Caldwell. MC pushed Wheelersburg a couple years ago, last year they were just too young, but this year MC could have made a run at a R19 title.

As for Wynford I admit I am not familiar with them, and they do seem to pile up the Harbin Points, so they probably will push for a spot too. I still say that teams south of I70 will have about 4 spots. Liberty Union is technically south of I70

You have 2 WCAC schools, you have Wynfield, Columbus Acadamy, thats 4 north of I70, not counting Fredericktown and West Lafayette Ridgewood, who have been constants the past couple years. There is 6. If Wheelersburg is good like always, and Liberty Union is good, there is 8, and no mention of Nelsonville York or any other decent school there. 19 is a whole new ballgame.

And if only one WCAC school gets in, and one from Ashland or Bucyrus, we have not even talked about Coal Grove or Portsmouth West. Both of them could make noise, and even Oak Hill could be better than people are thinking.

You also will have Portsmouth West and Lucasville Valley who are good this year.

Looks interesting, no mention of Liberty Union, Portsmouth West, or any more of the WCAC schools. We will have to see.

Trust me NY is in. Who is going to beat them? They have almost everyone back, and have added a few. The best players on the team last year were all juniors. With the staff they have, and what they have coming back 10-0 is a probability, and 9-1 at worst. The only question is how many wins will their opponents have. We have to hope Trimble wins a bunch. 9-1 would be great, but 7-3 is more realistic. NC is about the same, with 7-3 being more likely. BU could help us if they win some. I would like to see Logan win at least 5 games, cause that would be a huge hunk of playoff points for NY. We need Athens to beat a few teams their size too. At any rate, you can take it to the bank that NY will not only get in, but will win some games in the playoffs this year. Yes, take it to the bank.
