They are going to learn how to use their speed and actually have good technique in everything they do. The two things I took from the previews Saturday are 1. The Grove's O-Line needs to learn how to pick up the blitz and 2. If the Peake is going to blitz like that against everybody then I can see them getting beat by a few teams on their schedule.fuzzhead wrote:.

Re: OVC Preview (score updates)
With all do respect fuzz, even though i am a peake fan, chesapake scored their first two posessions. Then did nothing but run up the middle throughout the rest of the game. That game could have been 28-0. But it was previews and of course nobody will show anything but yes i did think Rock Hill looked improved. Hope to see alot of ovc games this year.
Re: OVC Preview (score updates)
The Grove's line hasn't impressed me so far. Even in the scrimmage with VC, there was no power running game. The outside running game and the pass (the proverbial "big plays") were how they were beating VC.2trap_4ever wrote:fuzzhead wrote:They are going to learn how to use their speed and actually have good technique in everything they do. They looked completely lost on defense on Chesapeake's first drive. This is not an outstanding Chesapeake team, just an experienced one with a good line. They'll likely come into OVC play with 3 losses - just like Coal Grove probably will.
Re: OVC Preview (score updates)
The Hornets will surely miss the dynamic duo of Bubba and Boo. 22 can't get the job done.

Re: OVC Preview (score updates)
What I saw was not a dominant team in the whole bunch?
RV def looked better than last year,qb position was really the weak spot he may get better, depends on whether he works harder than he did in the off season(not at all)
Fairland was the biggest disappointment.
Coal Grove looked like the rest of the teams.
Rock Hill nice Qb but not great team speed or running game.
Chesapeake looked the best? I think 8 wins will be a lot for them.
I think numbers are down at every school.

ole Bobcat - the numbers in Jackson are up, around 135 in the program 7-12. Just sayin.

Hard to get better mid season.ole_Bobcat wrote:depends on whether he works harder than he did in the off season(not at all)

Hardly mid season Tubbs,3 weeks of practice, 4th week now, from what i hear about this staff they are relentless, film study is off the charts and they improve weak spots from week to week,we will see.Tubby wrote:Hard to get better mid season.ole_Bobcat wrote:depends on whether he works harder than he did in the off season(not at all)
I love how everyone gives them no chance to win a few ball games just because of the past.
I can tell you this "the River Valley teams of past years would have been down 35 points in that game!" had there not been a fumble (and thats part of the game)with 2:30 left they would have a shut out,I don't care who it is against do you know how long its been since they played defense like that at RV?
BIG UPSIDE!
Re: OVC Preview (score updates)
Yes. Probably early Deel years.ole_Bobcat wrote:do you know how long its been since they played defense like that at RV?
This is part of RV's problem......excuses!!!!!ole_Bobcat wrote:I can tell you this "the River Valley teams of past years would have been down 35 points in that game!" had there not been a fumble
One more thing........as for getting better this late in the off-season, why don't you take a poll with people and see if they think a QB can make a good improvement this late. This late in the summer I would bet that teams are preparing for their first opponent......not doing drills. So from here to the end of the season teams will be preparing for opponents each week. To late to make individual improvements now. I'm sorry, but if I were a head coach I would want my varsity QB at every workout and weightlifting session this summer. It might as well be a scientific fact that PLAYERS IN ALL SPORTS IMPROVE DURING THE OFF-SEASON.
On a POSITIVE note I think RV will beat Fed Hock in wk 1. From what I've read on this topic the OVC is down from last year. With a good senior class this year, RV could have a say in who wins the league. With what everyone is saying about improvement from RV, they should be competitive in the league.

Couple of questions for you Ole Bobcat. What I saw was not a dominant team in the whole bunch?

I'm assuming you are a RV fan from your posts, so why are you singling out kid on your own team? Seems kind of counter-productive.
How was Fairland so disappointing? What were your expectations for a scrimmage game?
Rock Hill had over 200 yards rushing in two quarters of play. Were you watching the same scrimmages that we were?
I only see Chesapeake being the underdog in two of their games (West, Wayne), so I don't think 8 games is really a strech.

Chesapeake will be the underdog to Valley too.
I would love to see Rock Hill, South Point, Coal Grove, and the Peake win some games.

Just checking to see if anyone thought that maybe cg's coaches should have went to2trap_4ever wrote:They are going to learn how to use their speed and actually have good technique in everything they do.
