Re: valleys scrimages
I believe they will scrimmage Piketon on Aug 17th or 18th at Piketon, one week before regular season starts.

Piketon will scrimmage Valley and Notre Dame at Valley on August 10th.
Piketon will scrimmage Portsmouth at Portsmouth on August 17th as a Jamboree game.

Did Valley replace Portsmouth on its scrimmage schedule or are they open that weekend? Thanks.

They are having an intersquad scrimmage tomorrow morning at 10AM. Not sure about time of Piketon scrimmage yet. I'll check this evening on time and post later tonight.

Re: valleys scrimages
Its hard to measure how they did. They had the ones and twos split on different teams. Didn't look bad. Good thing is no one got hurt. We might get a better idea Tuesday against Huntington Ross and Friday against Piketon and Notre Dame. I think our biggest hole will be the QB position. IMO the best looking QB on the field Saturday (as far as throwing the ball) was the Freshman(Rolfe). But I think the starting job will go to the Senior(Howard) or the Junior(Shope).chicken_coop wrote:how did the inter squad go?

Re: valleys scrimages
It was hard to tell with the quick whistles, but if you watched the scrimmage and came away worried more about the quarterback position than the offensive line, then you only watch the ball. Will and/or Zach will do well enough under center and with Nate Arnett carrying the ball, we are fine at the skill positions. Are they going to replace Yates and Keller? No way No how! But after the first 4-5 up front there is just no depth. I think the offensive line can be solid, but they appear to be only an injury or two away from either playing freshmen or having to move our best pass catcher (TE Hayden Dunn) down to tackle. Staying healthy is huge in D5 football, but a couple of injuries up front could take this team from the 8-2/7-3 range to the 3-7/4-6 range.nutronron2012 wrote:Its hard to measure how they did. What Huntington team are they playing and where?
Re: valleys scrimages
I think Huntington Ross at 6 @ valley. Anyone find out the times for Fridays scrimmages? That's a lot of hitting for one week. Are they having a meet the team night this year?

Re: valleys scrimages
Valley looked very good tonight against Huntington Ross. Very solid in the running game but alot of dropped passes. Huntington scored on a passing play and Valley scored in many different ways.
Re: valleys scrimages
yeah they looked really good but it was hard to tell if it was us being that good or huntington being that bad. the backs looked great but the receivers really need to step it up. i was really impressed with both sides of the line. i think all the qbs threw the ball well but i really wanted to see the freshman get some game reps. he might have but i could not stay till the end. howard looks like a totally different qb. still not the best mechanics but he had more zip on his passes and i did not see too many lame duck passes today. i dont know how good piketon is but i hope they give us some better competition friday. i think we prob would have gotten more of a challenge at the inter squad scrimmage.
