Week 3: Granville (2-0) @ Jackson (2-0)
Re: Week 3: Granville (2-0) @ Jackson (2-0)
Granville is tough, but I don't see it being a blowout. Johnstown is not near as good as last year, so I don't see that as a good measuring stick. However, Wellston and Waverly are not as strong as past years either. I would think this will be a close game in the 20s or low 30s.

Yesterday you thought Granville would win 35-7. Maybe by Saturday it'll be a close game.Ringo wrote:Jackson will have a tough time with the Blue Aces. Granville 28-7

The Blue Aces will be tough. Are they beatable, YES! Jackson will have to make sure their corners and safetys don't get burnt from the pass. The key on defense will be putting pressure on the QB. On offensive, they have got to do some more passing, the run game is getting to easy to catch on too. I see whomever scores first being the winner of this game.

Granville likes to onside kick after score recover it and you will have good field position.
Re: Week 3: Granville (2-0) @ Jackson (2-0)
Forgot the game was on Saturday, so I figured that the extra day of practice would knock off a TD from the final, Blue Aces 28-7, and will make the playoffs this year because of this win

For Jackson fans:
I was told that the 8th grade team defeated Chillicothe by a score of 30-6 tonight. The 7th grade team trailed 22-0 against Chillicothe at the half before storming back to take a 30-28 lead late in the game, but they ended up losing 36-30 to the Cavs. I heard that the Freshman squad had a big win against Nelsonville-York, but I wasn't there so I'm not sure on the final for that one.
EDIT: The Jackson Freshman team defeated Nelsonville-York by a score of 60-6!!

You can't get too mad at swamprat. He just wants to see Jackson lose a regular season game. And 2 years (106 weeks or 736 days) is a long time for anybody to have to wait:). Well, gonna have to wait some more. Jackson wins close 31-28.Apollo Creed wrote:Classy! Good job Oak fan! GO IRONMEN !!!!!! THIS IS THE KIND OF GAME THAT TAKES OUR PROGRAM TO THE NEXT LEVEL. PLAY WITH INTENSITY, SPEED AND PASSION. GOOD LUCK
Re: Week 3: Granville (2-0) @ Jackson (2-0)
Exactly! That's why I love games like this one, last year against St. Charles, and against teams like West Jeff in the future. Playing games like this will make the program better as a whole and prepare our team for anything they might see if they're fortunate enough to make it to the playoffs.Ironmen44 wrote:THIS IS THE KIND OF GAME THAT TAKES OUR PROGRAM TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

I have heard that Granville runs an unconventional defensive front. What's the word on this?
Re: Week 3: Granville (2-0) @ Jackson (2-0)
A lot of 7 or 8 man fronts and they basically bring them all. Man coverage in the secondary and everyone else is shooting gaps.Apollo Creed wrote:I have heard that Granville runs an unconventional defensive front. What's the word on this?
Granville frequently uses onside kicks, they'll fake punts deep in their own territory, they'll run reverses on kick returns, go for it on 4th down a lot...very unconventional in many ways. You literally can't take a breathe against them. Playing hard and being alert on every single play is essential if you want to beat them...no plays off and no mental lapses.

Heading to Oak Hill tomorrow evening for Athens youth football, may have to stop by Jackson on the way home to catch a bit of this one.
