My nominee for quote of the week.................

let's see if we can guess who this might have been.......... :?: :?:

Heighton..........Shotsky...........Sanborn.............Brown.........
With those names listed there it sounds like a "law firm"!
Better than the law firm that has officiated a few at the Tank--Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe.

ALMOST GAME TIME - GO IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS
On the radio on WIRO 1230 AM - granted not a powerful station with wide range.
Jason Philyaw and Kevin Anthonee with the call - they're the best
But it's also on the internet: http://www.foxsports1230.com/main.html
Click on LISTEN LIVE at the top left corner then on PLAY STATION in the middle.
Beautiful weather here in Ironton though very warm for October - over 80 degrees earlier and 75 degrees right now.
I've started a separate UPDATES thread so this one can be used for commentary and cheerleading.
Jason just said this is the 7th meeting between these 2 teams the most recent were in '97 and '98 - Watterson has won 5 times - Ironton's only win was in 1958.

why can't we wrap up and tackle? It's been years this has been a problem. I think the years of Ironton hanging with the bigger schools and winning is over.

172 yards on ground, 238 total for Watterson in the first half.
88 total yards for Ironton

not good, not good at all.

Next week will be an even bigger blowout. Hartley is better and has already beaten Watterson.

ironton just don't look like a playoff team to me, and i really hate too say that. they don't block or tackle well, and thats what gets you too the playoffs. they can't beat hartley with that kind of play, hartley is too good a team. get tough tigers or your season ends early. jmo.

Keep your head up boys we will be alright!!! This would have been a better game if we were healthy at all. Nice job stepping up there #8, way to come in and try to rally back. Kid plays hard heard his name all night!!!! All the boys played hard its rough having back to back to back tough games. Just hope dont break us for the playoffs. Get healed up fellas and get back at it. Just remember boys keep them heads up and fight back!!!!

just too many horses for the fighting tigers tonight, the injuries we have and the depth of watterson really showed tonight, but the fighting tigers played hard till the final whistle. this is one of the hardest stretches any team in the state will see at any level, between johnson central, bishop watterson, and bishop hartley next week.we had our chances the first half to make this a close game. then it got away from us. make no mistake we were beat by an excellent team tonight.i sat on the watterson side with my orthopedic surgeon who was down for a visit from columbus. he had a son on watterson. the fans over there, were extremely impressed with our facilities, the atmosphere at the tank, the band, everything about it here.they were classy fans, and were impressed we were down so much , and still laying the wood. just too much tonight from watterson. my hats off to both squads, sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.i guarantee you down the road, this game pays big dividends.anybody says you don't gain anything in games like this. have not played games like this.proud of my fighting tigers. but we simply have to start wrapping up tackling.

I think Irontons rein is over, The next few years the classes are smaller and Lutz is gone. You had a good ride but nothing last forever.

It's time for Ironton to join a league, and start playing a realistic schedule. The glory days in Ironton of going toe to toe with schools like C.A.P.E., Archbishop Carroll D.C., Desales, Watterson, etc. are long gone. I think some folks down in Lawrence County haven't seemed to realize this yet. Southeastern Ohio is rapidly changing, and Ironton is not at all immune to what is going on in the area. A declining population, little to no jobs, and a prescription drug epidemic that is destroying communities. The 80's and 90's were great, but it's time for Ironton to join the rest of us in 2012.
