what is the largest margin of defeat at home for Ironton? This Watterson game is up there for as far back as I can remember.
For what it's worth, here are a couple of scores of away games, back in 1964, which had larger margins of defeat:
Newark over Ironton 67-0
Chillicothe over Ironton 52-6

In 1965, Newark beat Ironton, at Ironton, 45-6

It's quite possible Tanner Duty is done for the year. Re-broke an old break in the right foot. Going to be wearing a walking boot for a few weeks and may possibly be ready for playoffs. If not, he will have surgery with no basketball this year.

Tanner is a tough kid. I saw right when it happened. He kept playing for the remainder of the series but was done after that. Wish him the best on the road to recovery.

I heard the Ironton linebackers are soft this year. I saw them play Gallia Academy and I thought they looked tough. what say you Ironton?

Strap em up and play boys. Play the hand you are delt. Young kids to get a chance to prove themselves and the walking wounded get a chance to heal. It is FOOTBALL !! Block, tackle and execute. Cox will be fine if needed, actually a NICE athlete . Play the game and move forward. JV looked nice against Johnson Central; Tigers 35-0 after 3rd when I left. Season REALLY counts in week 11. Get to week 11 and play to win !!

Considering that Hartley beat Watterson by 2 TD's and Watterson throttled the Tigers I would say this one could get ugly quick. Hopefully I'm wrong and Ironton makes a game of it.

Man, catholics produce great athletes?? Top D1 schools all named after some Saint or Archbishop. Forget Pee-Wee football, if you want your kid to excel I guess get them into catechism?? Maybe we would get more respect down here if we changed our names to Saint Ironton and Cardinal Wheelersburg. Just kidding! Wish Ironton the best and hope you prove a lot of people wrong. I know your kids will not be intimidated and give their full effort! Good luck in playoffs...Oak Hill will actually give you quite a few first and second level points!

as wondering how many kids are playing freshman football this fall? I haven't seen any conversation about the freshman team this year.

you cannot read anything into the fact that hartley beat bishop watterson players. different week, different game. we made a whole lot of execution mistakes against watterson. yes watterson was an excellent ball team. but we played considerably better in the first half as opposed to the second half. depth is an issue no doubt when you have injuries, but you have to keep on keeping on.

what i'm seeing is that hartley is smaller on their line fronts than us. we need to stuff the run, and improve laterally to string things outside.our secondary will have to be ready, but they are a run oriented team first. with their undersized lineman, i expect them to be very quick, and execute well.don't wrestle with the olinemen, get your stick in, and use your hands to get off them quickly to find the ball.swarm to the ball and wrap up.i'd sure like to see us doing some stunts and blitzing.if we execute on offense we can handle this team. we must tighten up our run defense though.good luck fighting tigers.

Agreed, the TD for Ironton called back was a major momentum changer in the game as well. This is a new game, and with out Tanner, the Tigers will have a different game plan. Hopefully this one will be a game!
