If an assistant coach had head coaching experience I'm sure they would continue to be a head coach. Not many proven hc become assistants. So Logan is no different than 100 other schools.

Re: Logan Football 2013
I was meaning that currently we do not have a qualified assistant coach or a OC or DC with enough experince. Just look at the last 3 years! We must shake thing up or bring Dale back and some bad A** discipline! also no more June Vacations!!!!!Trenchfoot wrote:Thats a good point also.Logan grad wrote:If an assistant coach had head coaching experience I'm sure they would continue to be a head coach. Re: Logan Football 2013
the ones that did go on to college walked on and did it themselves....with no help from MISTER DALE.........and he knew when to leave.......is why LOGAN should look elsewhere.......gotta take the good with the bad......now that the talent level is returning so does DALE......the great MESSIAH

Re: Logan Football 2013
Weeellll we DID have a OC with oh what, 7 years of experience with Wolfe and you demanded he be fired. He called the offense for Amyx for several playoff runs with 3 seasons of what some would say was the most talented group of players since the Conrad Boys and that class that went to the Regional Final; and he was a genius, then for some reason when the talent level dips and he's not as successsful, hes not qualified enough and fired.moonshine wrote:I was meaning that currently we do not have a qualified assistant coach or a OC or DC with enough experince. Now let me understand the other.....You at one point wanted Kelly fired, then you felt nobody with any ties to the school should be hired, gave a top ten of what some former ghost coach felt needed to be put in place to win, thought we should go after a guy from Johnstown, now that someone is speculating Coach Amyx has been contacted that now HE IS THE ANSWER!!??? YOURE ALL OVER THE PLACE!!
If Amyx is smart he wouldnt touch this program with any sense of his being after the way his former assistant and HIS FORMER ENTIRE STAFF WERE TREATED! What do you think will happen, he will find 15 DIFFERENT GUYS TO BE THE ASSISTANTS?? He won with the same guys Wolfe had!!! I hope whoever the coach is he is actually allowed to be a head coach. Discipline wont happen when parents question the way its handed out and then run to the board office bc little Joey was yelled at, at practice. Wont happen. Expecting little Joey to play 4 quarters bc he showed up to practice also has to change. Logan isnt running a rec program. Not playing? Work harder. Stop blaming last names. Whoever the next coach is needs to be allowed to run the program the way he wants with no stress from people that dont know half of the things they THINK they know. Because if they actually do, then fill out an application and let the chips fall.

Re: Logan Football 2013
Culver Jr. I think would be a good fit....but he does lack the head coaching experience. I agree he stays to take over for his dad....but I don't see Sr. senior walking away in 2 years and turning the reigns over.
But to move on.....
Amyx coming back would have it's good and it's bad. I'm not sure if one is any worse than the other. I think he would lose some respect from peers, assistants, parents and players coming back to take over for a coach he recommeded in the first place.
I agree that Stirn and BOE needs to look outside the district....bring in some new blood to re-vamp the program from top down.
It's going to be interesting for sure.

Very well said Logan Grad! As far as my wooing comment... I believe it is the best way to describe the deals that are going back and forth between Amyx and the admin. Who knows what the end result will be. Just hope the Admin and BOE know eyes are on them and they need to put forth a tremendous amount of effort in finding the "right" head coach. Not just handing it to any one candidate.

Re: Logan Football 2013
Out of the district is definately a must. Coach Carter from Johnstown would be a great fit, not sure if he could be coaxed down here or not, wouldn't mind seeing that happen though.. However, there is a little known assistant coach that I would also love to see get a shot, he is a good one. Probably going to get attacked for this one, but here goes. N-Y's assistant Earich Dean.. I have heard that he was being groomed to be the next NY coach, however, look at history. NY has never had a coach that one way or another has not been related to the Name Boston by blood/marriage in its history... Before you say anything about Dean not having "head coaching" experience, you had better look at his accomplishments thru the years, youth, middle and high school. As a youth coach, I'm pretty sure not only has all his teams won the leagues, plus a National Championship a few years back. As an assistant at the High School and Middle School, he has excelled in those positions also. Any way you look at though, Logan needs to go out of the district.
Coach C... If your reading this, good luck and throw your hat in this ring..

Good Lord, is everyone meeting at the General Store and waiting for Joey Chitwood to come in and state, "I have something to say"?

Re: Logan Football 2013
I knew what you meant justsayn22 about "wooing",I was just having little fun with trenchfoot, nothing bad intended, but I do agree with the statement about Amyx recommending Wolfe for the job,it would put him in a awkward situation if he came back so maybe it would make him have second thoughts.I personally would love to see him come back though, his fire and game preparation and reading teams tendencies on offense were uncanny, but if it doesn't happen I would understand why.
Re: Logan Football 2013
Earich would be a steal for any program. Great offensive mind when he is given control.

Coach Carter at Jtown probably not going anywhere anytime soon, he is very loyal to Jtown after they stuck by him when a few parents and board members spread lies or twisted the truth to try and get him fired is maybe a better way to explain it. Coach Dean and Coach Carter are actually related so it's a good coaching family!
