Logan Football 2013
Re: Logan Football 2013
Awesome. Kids already brought home a package from the coach with expectations from the players and what they can expect from him and stuff, plus a schedule. Good start.

Great to hear positive reports from inside LHS. Those I know who have met Coach Burke have been very impressed. Looking forward to meeting him and supporting the purple and white.

Re: Logan Football 2013
Whatever the past, it is time to put all that aside and get behind the program. I will be lining up to purchase my season tickets in August. Go Chiefs!

If 80 boys showed up to meet with the coach, it could get interesting quick. That is almost twice as many as are on the team and the halls are filled with athletes. In fact, if Logan got all its athletes out, they should be very competitive in D-II, let alone the SEOAL

Re: Logan Football 2013
Does anyone know how close you are to a D-III slot since they are expanding to 7 divisions this year. As I recall Logan was around 430-ish male enrollment and if you are under 410 that puts you in a D-III spot. Could be close.Paladin wrote:If 80 boys showed up to meet with the coach, it could get interesting quick. That is almost twice as many as are on the team and the halls are filled with athletes. I agree with a turnout of 80 if true there are going to be some sleepers in there that have never played that will be a pleasant surprise to the new coaching staff.
That with a freshman team last year that only lost one game I believe is going to make things interesting in the area.
Congrats to the new coach and administration in building some excitement and getting the turnout.
Re: Logan Football 2013
I still think Logan falls in the area of 478. Right off I don't know when they will be revised.
Re: Logan Football 2013
This will be the last year of the current enrollment so they should recalculate next spring sometime.

Re: Logan Football 2013
Highly doubt Logan falls into D3. Having watched the enrollment figures for years, I just don't see enough change over one year for it to happen.
80 kids in 9-11 is a lot. My general hope is to get 20 per class every season. I think in the 15 years I've really tracked that kind of info we've never done. I doubt they'll do it next year, but its encouraging that interest is there.

Re: Logan Football 2013
Based on a conversation with my son, he estimated that 20 of those kids just wanted to skip class so dont get too worked up just yet. But all who speak of new coach say good things.
Re: Logan Football 2013
Guy with a below .500 record who didn't even coach last year. Not an upgrade from my perspective. Super for Logan is a joke. Hired a guy who never even played to coach the basketball team and now this. And people wonder why lHS athletics are a complete mess. Starts at the top.
Re: Logan Football 2013
Not many coaches will find success with a $400 pay to play at a small school.klaw10 wrote:klaw10 wrote:

Committee is a complete abomination. Pretty much par for the course with the current Superintendent. Loose lips with one particular committee member. New head coach will come from the following three. Arno ( Alexander), Bartholomew (Huntington) or Burke (Buckeye HS).
Re: Logan Football 2013
Some might say $400 dollar isn't that much. It might not be, but a lot of these boys play more than one sport so they just might pay the money for another sport leaving low number in football.
Re: Logan Football 2013
You know, I wouldn't dwell on the record he has. I think I read that in his 1st year, the school wouldn't even bus the kids to away games. Football was definitely not a priority for the school. I have heard he is a hard worker, well prepared, and will bring discipline to the program. He may have a 'chip on his shoulder' to prove himself. I personally think he might be the answer to turn things around for Logan.
