Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2013
Caldwell definitely needs to open up the offense more and get away from the direct snap run's that they like to use what seems like 90% of the time. Those types of formations could be useful, they just don't use it right. They need to spread it out more and not allow teams to clog the box like Newcomerstown did. For as bad as Caldwell played the other night, they still had their chances to win. Turnovers and penalties killed them, one a fumble inside the redzone and then a failed attempt at converting with a 1st and goal at the 5. Penalties had a big effect as well. The Trojans lone score came after Caldwell had them backed up to a 3rd and 20+, but a personal foul gave the Trojans an automatic first down. They're still using a lot of young kids, just play smarter and that outcome may have been different.
As far as the game against Trail goes, i'm not really sure what to think of it. Seems like Trail likes to air it out a bit, which is something I don't recall the Trojans having much success with. It was the run game out of spread formations that seemed to give Caldwell the most trouble. However, until Caldwell finds an offense that is successful, Trail has to be the favorite.

Espy, Jorris will still be one of the best QB's in the league when it's all said and done. Look for a big week for him against Shady this week. Noles, Noles, Noles
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2013
If Monroe Central loses to Shadyside it might be time to say the mojo is gone in Woodsfield. At best, the 'Noles could be looking at a 6-4 season but still a contender in the PVC. Hard to believe River nearly pulled out a win at Fort Frye, but Trail looks like it could contend. Just not enough pieces at Shenandoah, Caldwell, and Frontier.

If Frontier keeps the line in tack they are loaded at skills positions Howell , Welker, Boley, Warren transfer Rodney Barnes, Dylan Absher, and Damon Metheny.

Plus If Flannery plays better River will give MC a game. Noles are just not great in the trenches.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2013
So I take it ridgewood is down this year? And Jay is one if not the best coach around but Idt Central has a chance in hell against Shadyside. Dorris is one hell of a ball player and I don't think Monroe has enough experience on the line or at the QB position. They lost to a UL team that is at best 6-4 and Shadyside is coming off of a huge win over a very talented Meadowbrooke team.

Not saying it won't happen, but how "at best" 6-4?surfsider wrote:If Monroe Central loses to Shadyside it might be time to say the mojo is gone in Woodsfield. just saying MC has enough to beat River, Frontier, Shenandoah, Trail, Caldwell, and can't believe it'd lose twice in a row to Fort Frye.
the Barnesville game will be the ultimate war and I won't miss that one.

Why do keep doing this? So much pressure on a 1st yr starter. I'm sure he will be fine and only get better but come on man.PVC MAN wrote:Espy, Jorris will still be one of the best QB's in the league when it's all said and done. Actually well said EasternDspy...I agree
If the lines don't improve, which I think they will as the season goes on, it will be a long hard season.

No idea, just asking . . . when is the last time Monroe won the PVC outright?

tyler starr is a stud receiver..prolly trails best athlete he is going to be a big impact this yr bet on thatgottalovette wrote:Tyler Starr is an average receiver at best. He has a little above average speed but below average hands. He is not very physical player and is not built to be catching passes over the middle. To say he is going to be one of the better WR's in the league is crazy. Not if we was on the basketball court it might be different. And with you being so stuck on trail being good this year why didn't you pick them to win this week?EasternDspy wrote:Tyler Starr might be the one of leagues better WRs
