This is a count year. Some could move up or down. We will not know until May what the new region will look like. Newark Catholic very easily could be D7 this year.

Defending Champion Lucasville Valley only lost a few players off of last years team. I would think they are the favorite right now, if they remain in this region.

what are the chances that valley moves back up to D5 or burg drops down? i'd love to see a burg - valley game for the shot to go to statechicken_coop wrote:Defending Champion Lucasville Valley only lost a few players off of last years team. From looking at the enrollment data, the classes for Wheelersburg will be smaller and they should be right on the border of dropping down a division. Valley's numbers look to be very similar and I don't see them moving up, but it all depends on where the cutoff is. The data also does not show the % boys vs. girls.Mad_Dogg wrote:what are the chances that valley moves back up to D5 or burg drops down? i'd love to see a burg - valley game for the shot to go to state
I looked at the data from 2013 in grades 9-11 and compared that to grades 7-9 (which will be the kids counted last October). Valley's total students is +3 and Burg is -18. Assuming the same boy/girl ratio for both schools, my estimated boys enrollment for Valley would be 133 (up 1 from currently 132) and for Burg it would be 160 (down 10 from current 170). The current cutoff was 156.
All of this rambling means nothing, but I am a number geek and like to look at stuff like this :12222

I looked around at some other SOC and area schools and really didn't see any trends that were significant other than for Minford. I could see Minford dropping back to D5 (also back to D3 for basketball).
Re: Division 6 Region 21
Valley was almost D7 last time they did the count, so I don't see them going up to D5. Pretty sure they will stay right where they are.
Re: Division 6 Region 21
Monroe Central is getting a couple quality transfers from Beallsville High School who is being forced to close after this year. They will not have to sit out if they stay in the district. So they will be eligible for week 1 this year.
Re: Division 6 Region 21
I would say slim to none. Their enrollment seems pretty consistent for the classes coming up.MCdude wrote:Whats the possibility of Marion local moving to D6?
Re: Division 6 Region 21
Monroe Central had an extremely small 11th grade class in the last count and with the addition of a few kids from a consolidation, they will most likely move up to D5. The question here will be, the kids from Bealsville were obviously not there during the count in October, but will their count be updated to reflect the change? We all know last fall this was done for Eastmoor Academy and Linden McKinley, so its a toss up if you ask me.MCdude wrote:Monroe Central is getting a couple quality transfers from Beallsville High School who is being forced to close after this year. The most recent count was done in October, but they are typically not published until April/May.MCdude wrote:where can you find the class count for this year?

How is Oak Hill looking enrollment wise 4th n Goal? I think they've had the largest enrollment in region 21 the last 2 years and 2 boys short of D5. Any chance of them possibly moving up to D5?

They will be up very slightly, but it all depends on where the cutoff is.GoBucks1047 wrote:How is Oak Hill looking enrollment wise 4th n Goal? I think they've had the largest enrollment in region 21 the last 2 years and 2 boys short of D5. Any chance of them possibly moving up to D5?
Trimble and SV both will have very little if any change.
One thing to keep in mind is that the enrollment numbers that I am making my guesses off of may have changed due to open enrollment, jobs in the area, or a whole host of other possibilities. I am assuming that the same kids are at the same schools and also a big assumption I am making is that the upcoming classes will have the same percentage of boys/girls as the classes in the previous count.
