Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
In the 80's I think Athens only won twice and tied us once, but I can remember a good hammering the Chiefs put on the Bulldogs in 82. 44-6. Logan's had a bunch of good teams and players Mr. Raider. Not just the Conrads and the year 2000.

I think he's missing the point as well.1987chieftains wrote:i maybe wrong but.... i think your missing the point. athens hasnt fielded good teams consistantly since the late 80's early 90's. and when it comes to beating Logan........ since 1980 they are about 4-22-1. and up until the last few years athens was in the bottem half of the SEOAL standing every year. athens has only claimed 3 SEOAL titles since 1970.RAIDER6309 wrote:Yes it's 2015, Logan finds it more relevant to the the topic that Logan had a good team in 2000 compared to Athens in 2014. Are the conrads gonna play? Is Amyx gonna coach? Athens brings back its O and D line from a state finalist team. Athens has a very good football program under Adams and White. Logan has struggled since Amyx left
i'll give you props though.. athens has done great under adams and logan has stuggled since amex but we feel they are in good hands now that coach Burk is the HC. but ... hey.... if athens wins then they get #5 since 1980.

Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
Except Athens most recent record was built in the TVC against smaller and weaker teams. When they ran from the SEOAL, they were playing teams their size and much tougher.
Reality dead ahead.

that sounds really familiar but I can't think of the school with 490 boys beating schools with 290 boys lolPaladin wrote:Except Athens most recent record was built in the TVC against smaller and weaker teams. When they ran from the SEOAL, they were playing teams their size and much tougher.

Logan Athens Game:
If I'm trying to build a program and have just been beaten the past 4 years by a combined score of 194-31 I'm looking to get you off of my schedule too.
A quote on that thought from the Logan Daily; “While a terrific gate for both schools, the Chiefs — traditionally physically much smaller than their Lancaster counterparts — often wind up having to deal with season-altering injuries sustained in the Lancaster game. It's become extremely lopsided, with this year's 57-7 drubbing at the hands of the Gales the worst ever.
Looks like the Chieftains also are looking out for their best interest.
Found it interesting that a lot of chatter on this sight is about how Athens plays smaller competition and should upgrade their schedule. For the years 2004-2006 Logan was a Div. I school and Athens D. III
I wonder if people were bitching back then about Logan’s size difference. In 2007 Logan dropped to D II
When looking back I think it would be fair to say that had the series continued it would be very close over the past ten years. I’m not saying that it should have. The Athens administration and football program did what they thought was best for their kids and their program, and when it comes down to it that’s all that really matters
I didn't go back any more than 10 years because I figured if you are a graduate of either school before 2004 and still spend the majority of your time on this site bad mouthing each other you probably should think about a more productive way to spend your days. Maybe work in a soup kitchen, help the homeless something..

I chose a period of time that seemed relevant to the present. Don't really care what happened beyond that....
I found the similarities interesting for that time period. If I wanted the entire history of the series. I would have visited loganfootball.com
Within that time frame Coach Amyx retired. Logan went through a down time, but now Logan posters seem to be happy with the direction the program is headed.
Athens went through a tough time, changed coaches, had some success and now seem to be headed in the right direction.
I am looking forward to the renewal of the game and think it should be a good series.

13 of those wins Came from the TVC TEAMS, the other 28 came from outside of the TVC...
Did we Forget that Athens has more Play-Off Wins (8) than Logan (4) and Athens did this playing in the TVC, beating TEAMS not from the TVC for those Play-Off Wins...Crazy I know...who would have thought...You said they never would win a Play-Off Game once they Joined the TVC (Paladin was Wrong), You said they would Never Beat Shawnee (Paladin was Wrong), they got Lucky, they'll never beat Tri-Valley (Not Once, but Twice they Proved you Wrong Sir Paladin). Well they'll never beat those Catholic Schools who played the World's Toughest Schedule (Guess What, Momma was Wrong Again)...

Ancient History does mean nothing, but showing Sir Paladin the Facts is always a fun ride...
Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
Ancient history is the foundation of a program...three years of good boys is just something that happens once in awhile. If Athens had stayed in the SEOAL they would have still been on the short end of many games until the past three year. Now they go back to being on the low it of the final score and their fans stop showing up as in the past.questionmark wrote:Ancient History does mean nothing, but showing Sir Paladin the Facts is always a fun ride...

8 schools smaller
1school bigger
1school the same size
now granted athens won all of theyre season games and went on to the playoffs. but your dogging Logan for beating 5 smaller schools.... and athens played and beat 8 smaller schools.... and 4 of those school both Logan and athen both beat.
then i looked at 2013 same thing 8 smaller 2 same or bigger. 2012 5 smaller and 5 same or bigger, 2011 5 smaller and 5 same or bigger. the wins and losses, bigger smaller is a moot point in an attempted to belittle Logans schedule versus athens schedule.
i'm sorry but i'm getting on the soap box here.
i'm soooooo tied of this oooohhh boooh whhoo!!! Logan is so much bigger then everyone!!! it is what it is. Logan and VC are 2 of only 3 high schools in state that are 1 county high schools. im not going to look up enrollment numbers for all the schools in athens county like did for lawerence county, but i posted this before in response to an ironton poster and he never responed. in short take all the 6 high schools enrollement numbers in lawerence county and you'd be D1. the same with athens and athens county. consolidate all 5 or 6 high schools in athens county to 1 and lets see if you enjoy being D1 with the big boys. have fun playing st X. moeller, hillard dave, glenville, st eds every week every year. because by your logic thats all you should play in every sport, every year. the same size or bigger..... have fun with traveling to cincy, c-bus, dayton and cleveland every week for every sport. oh wait........ athens cant do that!!!! they cant efford the travel. its to expensive to travel all over the state. thats why they left the league that they sat right in the middle of.... or was it?
this is pretty self explanatory

Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
Athens left for less travel in the TVC. Zanesville left for less travel in the ECOL. Chillicothe to SCOL. Gallia, Ironton, Portsmouth to the OVC. Athens was just smarter than Logan, Jackson, and Warren
Logan 490
Jackson 300
Warren 280
Portsmouth 190
Athens 290
Vinton 290
Meigs 220
River valley 190
Alexander 180
Wellston 180
Nelsonville York 150
Kick Logan out of the SEOAL and add Athens, would save the SEOAL.

Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
If you're going to throw out enrollment numbers Raider, at least look them up and give the correct numbers.
