I think that's the key also, can Athens stop Mcbride? If they do I think they win,but I don't think they will.

The key to the game is the "trenches". Watched some of the Athens-Trimble scrimmage film and their kids look "soft". Trimble is not that talented this year and gave them fits. Logan should run & throw on the puppies. OL overwhelms them and the DL gets nasty and shuts them down.

I agree to a point but anytime you replace a whole def backfield in their first varsity game, youre going to have to play very well in the first half. The game will be faster, nerves, keys, it could be a big factor.

Smith will make a whale of a Safety and Logan has good enough athletes to face down the pups who no longer have 6'4 WRs. Athens looks to throw short possession routes this year UNDER the D. Look for Logan to mix some blitzes in to get to the QB early to stop that. Athens threw for a TD against Trimble that was a simple clearout of the flats and got a back into the area underneath the coverage. I repeat, this is NOT the team the pups were last year. Talent is down. I expect Logan to shut down the run game and put heavy pressure on the QB. Unless there are lots of mistakes, penalties, etc, I don't expect this to be a close game. The Hogs will rule in this game. McBride runs for more than 100yds and Little throws for some scores. Logan's D rules. 8)

All this talk about Mcbride and Logan forgets he's 25 pounds smaller than Saltzman

I guess I don't get the comparison?? McBride is a proven weapon; I don't have stats on the Athens kid, but McBride is one of like 4 players in the history of Logan to earn 4 varsity football letters and his stats speak for themselves. If he is 100 percent he gives Logan a huge advantage. Not sure he being a smaller back matters.

McBride is an extremely good back, there is no dancing or bee-bopping around trying to find a hole, he goes where the play is designed and turns north...hard.

His 10/20 yard split time is one of the best in SE Ohio I would venture to say, you may catch him from behind after 30-40 yards, but if you are in front of him he is going to punish you...a wrestler type of mentality. He may not make you miss in space, but he is going to hit you.

This is going to be a great game, I know Logan's QB Little can throw the rock but I really think there is going to be a good dose of McBride and Little on the ground.

Athens obviously is very talented as well also, I just don't know those players as well...look forward to the trip to The Plains in a couple of days to watch this one.

   You will see. 25 pounds smaller? Don't matter, the boy has a 250 pound heart. Runs over and through people like a small tank. His size is deceiving Raider. 8) What's the point in comparing anyways?

My take on the game will be how well the Logan's defense plays! We have to be concerned about our DB's But I am more concerned about our LB's and DE"s The line will have to control the bullpuppies O Line to free up our LB's The Chiefs can not allow the bullpuppies o linemen to get a hat on our LB's. Logan's DE's will have to contain and control the outsides and also bring pressure at times on the bullpuppies QB. We need sure solid tackling to prevent the long gainer on the bullpuppies short passing game! That brings me to the most important part of the game Special teams! Whoever wins that battle will win the game!

One other very important point Who has the best depth and back ups?

Paladin year after year just trashes Athens, lol. Even the whole way to the Shoe last year. Fun to watch you rifle off terrible predictions though.

Truth is that Athens lost a ton of Seniors, but that doesn't mean that talent doesn't remain. They have 3 returning offense and 3 returning defense. However, all of their JV players played almost as much as the varsity players last season as Athens had running clocks in half of their games. The Athens QB is getting comfortable, and has improved after each scrimmage. Saltzman and Wiseman having been playing Varsity ball as starters since they were sophomores, as have Davies (offensive line) Rogers (defensive line) and Cochran (defensive line).

It is actually a fun position for these boys to have so many underestimate them. Athens football is a program, not just a team that had a few good seasons. And success does indeed breed success. Athens coaching staff are the real deal. Very smart!. The key for Athens will be for the offense to keep their ferocious quick tempo, and for the defensive secondary to protect on the long passes. Athens defensive line can stop a run game. Jenkins from Trimble had two big runs in the whole first half of their scrimmage, and was rendered pretty ineffective the rest of it. Admittedly I know very little about Logan's team this year. Coming off a 5-5 season. Roll train roll!!

Drew must have some green and gold koolaid left over from the last couple years lol...I can't fathom this being a 24-point game. A win for the Bulldogs, maybe, by 24, man I just don't think so. I actually have Logan in the pick-em (one of a few lol) but that is just the homer SEOAL coming out in me, or maybe Paladin has me brainwashed with the "native talent" argument lol I am not sure.

Gonna be a good one but I don't see 24 points this year (44 points last year maybe but not 24 points this year). We shall see in a day and a half.

As much as I like Pasteur, he is way off early until he has a few games in his pocket. Based on last years numbers, rankings, records, divisions, etc, he will eventually get a large number correct AFTER he has a few weeks of results. This game is still to be won on the field and I like the Chiefs chances against the pup's local "native" talent.

GO CHIEFS ! 8)
