Quick question, how are teams such as Oak Hill and Northwest able to switch between SOC I and SOC II in different sports?
Oak Hill has been in the SOC 1 for football since joining the conference in the early 1990s. The only two teams that switched divisions in that time period were Valley moving up to the SOC 2 and Nortwest moving down to the SOC 1. While I think it is fair to question why Oak Hill and Northwest are in the SOC 1 with smaller schools I don't think that it should be a "just because" type argument. By that I mean that some have said on here that if you are in the SOC 2, you should have to be in it for all sports.
Check out the OHSAA list of conferences. There are some schools that are football only members of a conference and some that are independent while playing in a league for all other sports. The Northeast Ohio Conference is listed as having schools playing in different divisions for different sports. I think this type of arrangement could help a school like Jackson find a league.
