They may lose eventually, every team except one in DIII will.

Then you can all sit back and celebrate over a bunch of high school kids losing a game.

I'm really hoping this squad gets beat soon though! I've watched this team several times (mostly on tv) and I can't see how in anyway they are arguably the best team in SEO history! I say tri valley gets them this year

Athens is good.. there have been better teams in the SE..........Athens is playing at a time when the area is down in football. Which is not their fault..I would have loved to seen Athens with this team 5 to 10 years ago.

The area may be down, but that doesn't account for wins over Springfield Shawnee, Circleville, Logan Elm, Tri Valley, Watkins Memorial, Zanesville and Steubenville.

Lol wishing a loss upon kids

I would like to see Athens win state for the kids sake ! IMHO I think Athens squeaks out the region ! the extremely biased Athens posters is the only reason I say "I'm hoping they lose" bc honestly I hope they win state
And yes if like to see them against a 2003 gallia squad 04 Jackson 06 ironton 2000-01-07-08-09 Logan teams or even last years zanesville team
But that'll never happen obviously and 93 is correct about their wins you can't take that away from them nor can you fault them for there loss against Marion Franklin.
Good luck to Athens high school you've done a lot of great things recently to impact your community in a positive way. The kids are jumpin at Athens high school right now and it hasn't been like that at Athens for years. Hopefully they can represent Athens and all of SEO these next 4-5 weeks :)
But the posters from Athens. Read a book

CVille, Logan Elm and Tri-Valley all play in SE Ohio leagues (MSL-Ohio, MVL). Hardly "outside" the area.

And Zanesville USED to play in a SE Ohio league.

But I also am not sure the area is "down." You could argue that last year was one of the best seasons for the TVC in history.

None of that really matters. I think Athens will be in the Final 4. Trotwood-Madison presents many of the same challenges as Marion-Franklin. If Athens leaps that hurdle - they can lift the trophy in the 'Shoe.

It's sad that TV and Athens will play in the second round and not the final.

Tri valley will control the line of scrimmage enough to keep it close into the fourth. Tri valley is a well coached team and they are not afraid to take chances in November ! They will throw it all at Athens this year but if Athens can put their points up and play bend but not break defense I can see them pasing up the scotties

Athens has to get by Granville first. I believe they will but it might be tougher than some people think. I am hoping Athens did not peak against Steubenville. If Athens and Tri-Valley meet again next week I think it will be an epic battle. I have seen most Athens games and only clips of Tri-Valley. Right now I give the edge to Tri-Valley from what I see their defense doing. I think Athens Defense is better than people think. Sometimes all people see are the final scores. Athens has scored a defensive TD or two this year as well as a safety. Also I think about a third of the points they have given up have come during JV time when other teams keep their varsity in. River Valley, Warren. ALex and Vinton all scored on Athens JV not the varsity. Good luck to the Bulldogs!

I think you need to be nice, and respect your fellow TVC teams.....

NY showed up and played a hell of a game against the dogs and all you can say is that Athens had an off night.
This is the reason why folks don't like Athens. Classless booty*holes who can't be respectful, and admit that NY came up with and for the most part executed a good game plan..
May not be the only reason but,, it is at the top of the list...........
The arrogance that spews from Athens is phenomenal
It's not arrogance, its confidence. This is simply a team for the ages in Athens. Haters gonna hate. No offense is or was intended to Nelsonville, but they are simply not a better team than Athens this year, not even close. Now next year on the other hand, well.... LOL!!!

C'mon, one bad Apple and you have to lump us all in.
Anyone who knows Football knows that NY played a great game against Athens. Did you really expect any difference in what this game has been the past 7 years. There hasn't been a better game inside the TVC-OHIO then Week 10 NY/ATH.

The problem is that anyone can hide behind a username, so don't take the bait O&B...Athens has much respect for NY...
I love how expressing ones opinion makes you "one bad apple" and "hiding behind a user name". This an opinion forum, so express your opinion. You don't have to agree with what I am saying, nor I with you. A disagreement won't change either of our perspectives.

You did see this Team 10 years ago at Athens...
They had the exact same Make-Up of this years Squad.

QB's recruited to Big Ten...(Gregory/Burrow)
RB's recruited to MAC...(Hewitt/Williams)
WR's with Heigth...(Mingus/Luehrmans)...with Speed...(Sebring/Wiseman)
Strong Lines

Defensively Lead by a Strong Middle Linebacker...(Wren/Stalder)...
Same Coaching Staff from Kids Freshman Year til Graduation...(Champlin/Adams)...(This one is one of the most important things in building a Program.)

Difference, Athens used a different Spread Attack under Champlin. Adams uses All-Shotgun College Offense.
Had Gregory's Offense used this Offense, without a doubt they could have lit up the scoreboard a bit more than they already did...

Also, the SEOAL was at its All-Time High, with Gregory's Bulldogs, Humphrie's Ironmen, Johnson's Blue Devils...All 3 QB's went on to play in College (Gregory IU,SF & KSU), Johnson (Tifflin) and Humphries (Kent State Baseball)...

Again, all in Fun to compare the Past to the Present...
Totally Disagree that the Area is Down. Some Programs 'Used' to Winning may be down, but others have come out of the Ashes...

While the team 10 years COULD have ran this offense, would they have been as dangerous? I don't see Gregory on Burrow's level as a 'passer' first of all. And 2nd, Mingus had height and Sebring speed. But this team has TWO receivers with height , 1 with raw speed and 1 with great hands and power. It's the 4-wide that makes it so hard to stop. Could the team 10 years ago put 2 players in the slot as dangerous as Z and Wiseman? And did it have another 6'5 wide out to put opposite of Mingus?

But it all comes back to the trigger man. I just watched an old game between Athens and NY on Nelsonville cable with Gregory at QB. He was a great football player no doubt, but his passes, throwing motion, the trajectory of the ball looks nothing like Burrow's ball. Grant looked like a great high school quarterback when it came to throwing the football, Burrow's passes looks better than most college QB's I see play on Saturday's.

Sure sounds like you supposed fans of a good D3 team are really celebrating that win over a school roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of your size.

Anyways... back to Athens v. Granville...

I think Granville will make it a four-quarter war, which is exactly what Athens needs. I don't see Athens winning by more than 21.
