Week 10 - Portsmouth (2-7) vs Cincinnati Hughes (4-5)
Re: Week 10 - Portsmouth (2-7) vs Cincinnati Hughes (4-5)
I'm not saying Sparks was or is the right man for the job. If he's letting all that happen then he obviously isn't. If all that is true, then he sounds more like the players friend then he does their coach. I'm not questioning that the staff doesn't know the game. A lot of these guys have been around foltball their whole life. A lot of them had good playing careers as well. But as I stated before, I don't think you can give up on him after just 2 seasons. That goes on the AD and everyone else who made a bad hire. I just personally feel changes are needed. If they aren't going to look for a new head coach, then I think maybe you look for new assitants. Not taking anything away from the staff now, I just feel like a change is needed. As for Sparks bringing in kids right after high school, that's just crazy. What are those kids going to actually help with. I look at those kids more as advisors than coaches. Let me ask this, before Sparks was named coach, who did you all want to get the job or felt was qualified enough to get it?

People complained about Clifford...he was out
People complain about Sparks...who knows what happens
Whomever they hire...people will complain about him too.
Give the guy a shot. He has been there two years. I believe the school has other things to take care before they worry about who their football coach should be. Give the coach some time to establish his program and hire the right people to help and support him.

As game time approaches, visions of victory dance in my head.
The victory over Cincinnati Hughes will begin a new era of Trojan Football. Will it be an era of glory and great times or one of tears and sorrow. Only time will tell.
Coach Sparks has the destiny of this city in the palm of his hand. What does the future hold? These young Trojans and this young Coach can accomplish great things if they put their minds to it. Some may consider the coaches methods unorthodox. But haven't all great men and innovators been called crazy at one time. Will he end up being remebered as a hall of famer or a lunatic? We will see, we will see.
That is all, see you at the stadium.

IF, and that is a big if, the Trojans pull of a win tomorrow night that makes us 6-14 in the last two years. Is that what we now deem acceptable for our once heralded program? Not sure about the rest of you, but for this Trojan fan that does not get me excited. 13-7 would be questionable. With the talent we have year in and year out, anything less than 7-3 or 8-2 is disappointing. Come on people we need a coach who understands our community and the Portsmouth Pride that we once had. This guy is not the answer, he is just taking up time and space. Let's make the change we need to get back on track.

Look what Eugene Collins has done for a basketball program that fell on hard times.
They are state title contenders.
The football program can be saved.

I think there will be a lot of neutral observers there watching this tonight. I may drive down myself.

A little less than three hours until kickoff...I can barely stand the excitement. I bet the boys got the XBox fired up and are dusting off their clubs. We are going to be Puttin' for the Brand tonight!

Funny how some schools, big football schools, give guys years to pull a program together. Others are gone in a year or two. They sure need some help because the team has the ability to win but never seems to be able to do so with talented kids.6-14 is terrible.The_Joker wrote:IF, and that is a big if, the Trojans pull of a win tomorrow night that makes us 6-14 in the last two years. If the BOE decides to extinguish the Spark after tonight they are making a big mistake
This program needs stability and fresh ideas
Sparks is the man to make that happen
Cut a brother some slack BOE and give him some time to implement his system
