Great area of concern? I just don't see the point.
Your right it had no effect on tonight's game. I'm just saying that's a great area of concern! I for one would like to see them go far in the playoffs

Yes I agree, that's another we have seemed to struggle with.
Re: WEEK 7: LOGAN (3-3) @ JACKSON (6-0)
Went about the way I expected, although I thought it would be a little closer.Kind reminded of the Loudenville game, Logan comes out all energetic and running the ball good and then they start giving up big plays on defense, get behind and all the steam goes out, and they are forced to pass,Jacksons secondary is a little suspect, too many times they were not turning around on the long passes and the Logan receiver would go up and make the underthrown catch and another time Logan's tight end was running wide open down the middle of the field for a touchdown and the Logan QB over threw it,but they played good enough to hold Logan to their lowest point total of the year! Congrats on the win Iron :122249,Logan should cruise the rest of the year to another 6-4 year although Zanesville might be an interesting game.

Well it is yet to be seen if we can contend in Region 9, time will tell. But next up is Portsmouth and a trip to the Ribber, no need to worry about anything else but the Trojans.run n shoot 08 wrote:I think Logan wins, and Proves Jackson is not a contender in region 9

I will say Jackson's secondary seem to play better the more the game went on,could be just knocking off the rust since they don't see that too much around here or maybe they knew Logan had to pass to get back in it,but in the first half they were definitely shaky looking.Jackson has a nice pass rush,Logan's QB was running like a rabbit trying to find his hole most the night.

I should have never said they are horrible, but they have been exposed on several occasions each game they have played. Most of the time were very lucky, the ball was either over threw or dropped.
Re: WEEK 7: LOGAN (3-3) @ JACKSON (6-0)
I tend to agree with some who say our pass defense is suspect, but that has almost always been the case with Jackson. Even the great teams we've had struggled defending good passing teams. This might be due to the fact that Jackson has always been such a run-oriented team, tough to defend the pass when you do not get a great look at it in practice throughout the week. However this particular team counteracts what struggles they might have defending the pass by getting great pass rush from the front 7. Tough to throw the ball when you are running for your life! Great win! On to the next one, don't overlook Portsmouth. They have the athletes that can make plays. Anyone can be beaten on any given night!
As always GO BIG RED!!!

Jackson has shutdown West Jeff,Burg, Logan all teams that can pass. Still 7-0 and getting better each week. Defense has only given up 3 TD in 7 games (horrible) I will take that horrible D every season. Your missing a hell of a year to bad for you.

With my Warriors playing an absolute but kicking in Coach Bruni (sp?) and the Purple Raiders, I decided to watch Jackson. They are for real! And as for their defense, that front is dominate, and the secondary is fine. They can easily shutdown every team in their region.

Shut down every team in their tegion?
Jackson hasn't faced a team that is d3 playoff caliber yet , and sing until they are in the playoffs! The Jackson team I saw tonight wins 1 game in their region AT BEST

Hats off to Jackson, They must have gotten over the flu pretty quick.

Re: WEEK 7: LOGAN (3-3) @ JACKSON (6-0)
Was not at the game, was rain maybe a reason Logan couldn't throw the ball as effectively? Just wondering how bad the rain really was.

Radio guys said it was coming down pretty hard at times, but that wasn't Logan's only troubles according to them. I didn't go either, Ironmen32, I was feeling under the weather myself. :122245
Re: WEEK 7: LOGAN (3-3) @ JACKSON (6-0)
The rain was bad the whole night steadily coming down, might have effected the Logan passing game some, but in no way would have changed the out come in this one.The Jackson pass rush was the biggest factor in slowing down the Logan passing game IMO,the QB was moving around most the night to buy more time. Logan squandered a couple chances in the redzone and was having the same problems they have faced with better teams this year giving up too many big plays on defense. On the first TD the runner was completely untouched all the way to the endzone,Logan defenders not getting to the spot fast enough and not getting off blocks, its been a recurring theme this year!

I agree Bolt. Ole MJ couldn't go this time, bruised pelvic bone. Don't think TW went either. The radio guys said basically what you are saying but said the rain came down harder at times in buckets/sideways blowing rain as well. They both had to play in it so it effected both, but it wasn't Logan's main problem imo. We got beat by a good Jackson team.

Re: WEEK 7: LOGAN (3-3) @ JACKSON (6-0)
Jackson is who we thought they were.
The best team not named Athens in SE Ohio. And I'm more convinced than ever that this is a special Jackson team.
For that matter, Logan is also who we thought they were.
Good. But not excellent. Logan did some things better than I thought they could - ran the ball effectively, stopped the run early, etc.
But Jackson dominated up front on both sides of the ball, and that was clearly the difference.
#54 and #28 were dominant on defense for JHS. On the bright side, Eddie Lanning played great for the Chiefs.
Good luck to Jackson the rest of the way. Always a class program and our greatest rival.

Re: WEEK 7: LOGAN (3-3) @ JACKSON (6-0)
Jackson's secondary did blow some assignments and had a couple of receivers open. There were a couple of times the big receiver just went up over the smaller corner and made the play. I still say this is one of the better sets of defensive backs I've seen at my beloved alma mater. They do actually cover receivers. Historically our dbs have consistently gotten turned the wrong way and basically only defended the pass with a voracious pass rush. There are scant few high school teams that are consistently good in coverage. Most colleges aren't good in coverage. What makes this team good is they are dynamic on offense and defense. They are good at stopping the run and pass. Offensively they've shown the ability to throw the ball effectively. As for good old Ironman football, the wingback counter and cross buck are still alive and well. Coach Hall has evolved into a much better play caller since he first arrived. He is now willing to take what works and go with it. The Ironmen took Logan out with the old school power running.
Locos - #54 is Codey Roseberry. He is the son of a good friend of mine and wears that number to honor his favorite player from the 2003 & 2004 Ironmen Playoff squads. He is a sophomore and will be a force the next two years. Great kid with a great motor.
