Valley @ Portsmouth West
Re: Valley @ Portsmouth West
The Siders played tougher in tough conditions. They made big plays and had big calls from their coaching staff in crucial spots. The pass to Welch in the 1st qtr and the halfback pass were back breakers for the Indians. Good win for the Siders... Valley still has plenty to play for and I think this season still has great promise. Gotta get back to work! The coaches will have the Indians ready to go!
Re: Valley @ Portsmouth West
Valley will regroup. They are a good team. This may not be valley's best team, but it may be their best chance at a regional title as the rest of Region 21 is down a notch as well.Bo_Diaz wrote:The Siders played tougher in tough conditions. Difference in this game was West passing. Valley can stuff the run. That's why they've been kicking our butt. We were one dimensional. Now West passes as well as they run and Valley struggles to defend the pass because they load the box so much against the run.
Also the 4-4 West plays gives us a fighting chance to defend the spread of Valley and Wheelersburg.

Re: Valley @ Portsmouth West
Congrats to the new Senators from an old SIDER. Good win and will help out some point wise come playoff time. They have got to be Valleys biggest fans and hope Valley can upset the Burg or my preference just beat them yourself and control your own destiny but if they can't, they will need help for a home game . if the Burg beats them and Valley loses to the Burg also, then West will be on the road somewhere prolly Itown and maybe even the Burg again but If Valley beats the Burg who already beat Ironton, who just knocked off I believe but not 100%sure D-2 or D-3 St Charles tonite pretty much locked the Burg into the 1 spot.To get the jackpot playoff points that will get them a home game is to either beat the Burg or hope Valley does. It's starting to look like this, and I hate it, but we r going to have 4 schools get in from our little piece of the state who r going to have to knock each other out in the 1st round. I am betting that either Burg-West, Burg-Ironton again,or West-Ironton and Valley being D-6 now leaves it wide open for them. But good win tonite fellows so enjoy it and get back at it Monday at 3:30.

Columbus St Charles is a d2 school. I am surprised to see West only at 8 in region 17. They will need Valley to beat Burg and beat Burg them self to assure themselves of a home game.jagered wrote:Congrats to the new Senators from an old SIDER. Eastmor will loose again and may not make the field. Outside of the fact they are a city school, there should be no "awe" factor. And the fact that they are a city school, there should be no "awe" factor. St. Charles would not win the SOCII, TVC, or SEOAL.nutronron2012 wrote:Columbus St Charles is a d2 school. Congrats to Valley on a great run, and to West for a great accomplishment.
Re: Valley @ Portsmouth West
To give the former staff ANY credit for this win is a complete and utter jokedreamweaver wrote:dreamweaver wrote:Some of these comments are stupid. Let me just say this. If West wins this game it will be a combo of reasons.
1. It is home
2. The former staff did a heck of a job preparing these players for the last several years and it shows both in their work ethic and the opportunity to play varsity some of them for 3 years now.
3. The new staff has done a good job this year.
4. Indians lost 18 seniors and several like the Dunn kid could of played anywhere just about.
5. The odds
I was right.Congratulations West!!!

Well said! Congrats to both schools and good luck going forward!Westfan wrote:Great game West. Good run by Valley.
If their were any doubts about the direction of this program. This should put that to rest. These guys can coach the game and what they are doing is working. West is going to keep getting better.

Congrats to West on the win last night. Also, congrats to Valley on an outstanding accomplishment of winning 30+games in a row.

I mean really. Why do people continue to bring this stuff up? Do they not know how stupid it sounds? The Oaf wrote: To give the former staff ANY credit for this win is a complete and utter joke
Re: Valley @ Portsmouth West
Ill say this.....and this is NOT a knock on any former West staff member or player.
But from what Ive heard over the course of the year, its a different West team. And I mean from a discipline and sportsmanship standpoint. You dont see boneheaded plays, shoving, personal fouls, fighting, etc
I think the team, community, and everyone have bought into the Johnson era, and with good reason. The SOC II and southern ohio football will be better for it.
Its gonna be a wild finish i in the SOC II this year, and thinking about next year...all 4 teams bring back a ton of exp.
Go Indians!
