WEEK 3: West Jefferson (1-1) at Jackson (2-0)
What do the Jackson Ironmen need to do in order to redeem last year's results when they traveled up to Madison County and got handled by a very good Roughrider team that made a good play-off run in 2013?

I'll probably have to go. Athens and Jackson might meet up in the playoffs.

West Jeff looks tough again this yr. 1-1 but losing to Alder. Should be a great game. Good luck to Jackson.

I would love to see us make the play-offs but lol would not love to see us get the first round draw against Athens...be nice to avoid that in week 11 lol.RAIDER6309 wrote:I'll probably have to go. Athens and Jackson might meet up in the playoffs.
Seriously though this week will tell us a lot...as it starts the beginning of a 3-week grind, followed by Bishop Ready and Wheelersburg. We play well this week and gain some confidence against a team that smacked us around last year and it will do wonders I believe going into weeks 4 and 5.

Re: WEEK 3: West Jefferson (1-1) at Jackson (2-0)
WJ has played 2 very tough opponents in Mechanicsburg and Alder. Burg will most likely go 9-1 and make a good playoff run and Alder should finish 8-2 maybe 7-3 at the worse.
WJ replaced 10 players on offense and 9 on defense this season and are getting better each week.
Jackson will see a much different looking wj team Sat. night then they seen last year and this game will be a much better game.
I know Jackson returned quit a few players from last years team that is looking for revenge against the Roughriders.
The outcome should be much different and should be a real good game!

Jackson will need to play some press coverage and take away the spot passes and bubble screens. Force West Jeff to slow down. The Ironmen can win.

Re: WEEK 3: West Jefferson (1-1) at Jackson (2-0)
The Roughriders lived off the screens and pick plays on the quick passes to the wide-outs last year, and continued to use them until the defense started to bite on them and then faked the screen and went deep a time or two. Defensively personnel wise we may be in a better position to press them at LOS this year, but they will put 11 athletic kids on the field offensively so they will have some success. When they do we just need to not panic and respond.jervin wrote:Jackson will need to play some press coverage and take away the spot passes and bubble screens. Force West Jeff to slow down. Offensively I am hoping that what we showed in Week 1 and 2 changes a bit as we have been pretty vanilla, hopefully that was on purpose and we show some different looks this week.
Key is getting off to a good start and settling in...go Ironmen.

West Jeff is athletic and well coached. They spread Jackson out and win 28 - 14.

I think the Ironmen defense will play good, but mistakes will let WJ take the game. WJ 28 Jackson 7

Not liking these Saturday games lol

Look for Jackson to slow down the pace of the game on offense, try to hold the ball for long periods of time. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense! Go Big Red!!!! :122245 :122245 :122245

Should be an interesting game. West Jeff looked awful on offense against Alder and doesn't have a kicker. 4 times in the red zone and came away with 0 points. If Jackson struggles with West Jeff, I look for them to struggle against Ready as well.

I believe Jackson will compete with both teams (West Jefferson & Bishop Ready), whether they win or lose is another question but we have the ability to stay in both ball games and be successful.BishopReadyFootball wrote:Should be an interesting game. From my limited knowledge of Bishop Ready they are more of a Wing T or running oriented team is my understanding (correct me if I am wrong) and historically we have performed better in this type of a game versus someone that has spread us out. Last year West Jefferson, Athens and Wheelersburg spread us out and we got beat pretty handily.
One game at a time though, we have played Wellston and Waverly and although both are much better football teams this year neither of them put on the field the athletes that West Jefferson and Ready will, and then we follow that with Wheelersburg lol.
Let's go get the Roughriders first and then figure Week 4 out next week.
Go Ironmen!!

Ready is more of a run oriented team, you are correct. I was at the WJ/Alder game last week and left extremely unimpressed with what WJ showed... Completing passes on only broken down coverage and unable to capitalize when needed. This team is much different from last years squad.
Re: WEEK 3: West Jefferson (1-1) at Jackson (2-0)
My prediction for Saturdays game. Jackson 28 West Jefferson 14. This prediction is only good if we can stop their passing.
Re: WEEK 3: West Jefferson (1-1) at Jackson (2-0)
Is this the Apple Bowl? Maybe to early, oh well my prediction is:
Ironboy's 28
West Jeff 27
Almost to close to call!!!!!!!!

Lol, you may be unimpressed but there was a big gap last year between them and us...so even if they are not as strong and even if we are a little more experienced it remains to be seen how much that gap has closed.BishopReadyFootball wrote:Ready is more of a run oriented team, you are correct. Still another day and a half to find out the answer to that question.
