GOOD LUCK TO THE FIGHTING TIGERS AND THE COAL GROVE HORNETS THIS YEAR.

Bingo! It's sad to say but very true.noreply66 wrote:A lot of things have happened in Ironton and around Ironton that has led to their drop off. Ironton still has good players but not as many. Ironton is in a place where they will have ups and downs just like everyone else.

We didn't show everything but our 2nd n 3rd back options ran well. We score 4/5 Tds with pal running. We got to see the areas we need to work on. Cg is solid not taking anything away from them. But I think Fairland gives them all they want , CG pass coverage is poor. And Fairlands qb will pick them apart. Cg will have to eat the clock with their running game and keep Fairlands offense off the field.tigerfan98 wrote:Everyone tries to say ironton isn't the same after a bad season. Ironton set the bar so high that if they don't make the playoffs it's a bad season. Cg has a good team but let's remember nobody shows everything in a scrimmage. Both teams should have great seasons. I would take nothing from a scrimmage. I remember when people were saying West whipped Ironton in a scrimmage then Patrick Lewis went on a streak and Ironton made the playoffs and West struggled. Scrimmages mean nothing but practice. Palladino will give Ironton the edge it needs to get some of the close ones. Coal Grove should win the OVC if they can beat Fairland

I watched the scrimmage and Ironton defensive line is lost. They do not deliver blows they have not a clue on pursuit angles. The one linebacker played very good but the rest of the defense needs work. CG could run outside anytime they wanted if they needed 5 yards they got it.
I would expect Ironton special teams will not be much better because when Ironton punted the punter was too close to the line scrimmage; the extra point kicked was missed because he has not been coached properly. I would say to fix that you have one of the better special teams coaches sitting in your back yard go get him. Because in the past Ironton’s special teams were special.
PS – By the way the coach I was talking about was sitting in the stands last night cheering for the Tigers.

The Kicker made all 5 extra point kicks last week without any problems, He's a SR and I think he only kicked in one or to games last year and two scrimmage games this year. I've watched him in practice, He'll be ok.Gallipolis Blue Devil wrote:I watched the scrimmage and Ironton defensive line is lost. They do not deliver blows they have not a clue on pursuit angles. PS: That Coach, He has to want to Coach first. I'm pretty sure he was asked to Coach last year and this year.

That's the thing, theres a lot of coaching talent in the stands and across the river that could be on the Ironton staff, but egos from the powers that be and others wont let them, because theyd rather have "yes" men on the staff than guys who actually know football.
