Re: SOC 1 2014
Oak Hill in my opinion has to be the favorite again. I'm not sure how much they exactly lost but as defending champions I'm sure they will be fine.
Symmes Valley will continue to play tough and give itself a shot. Year after year they come to play and seems like they field a good team.
East will def be stronger than in years past and could surprise some people. Good group of young kids coming up will help build the program back up.
Green is looking to build on new coaching. Just not sure they have the kids to do it with this year.
Notre Dame lost a lot in the backfield on offense and strong linebacker/db on defense. But returns a veteran line that can open up holes.
Northwest is the largest school by far in the SOC 1, numbers should help them but not sure what they will bring to the table this year. Will get interested for sure.
Eastern joining the SOC next week will make a very lopsided division. In my opinion it may be time for Oak Hill to finally move up to the SOC 2 where they belong (Play in SOC 2 in all other sports).

I agree that Oak Hill should make the move if the Eagles indeed have an SOC1 slate in 2015. We will have to watch the few games they have this year closely.JS7_22 wrote:Oak Hill in my opinion has to be the favorite again. Oak Hill plays Wheelersburg in Week 2 and @ Minford in Week 5 this year. If they can at least compete with Burg and Minford, then they are capable of competing in SOC 2 and competing in SOC 2 will help them better prepare for the playoffs than if they were in SOC 1.

Re: SOC 1 Predictions and News
I think the Oaks have been well prepared in the playoffs and have competed very well except when they ran into a private school from Columbus that looked like it could have done well in the MAC.

Sciotoville Community would have to be my favorite in SOC 1 play. The Brown kid and Gerald the big OSU commit should take them far. I would say it has been a long while since a 4-star recruit has come out from a school in the SOC 1 or 2 (if ever?)

Re: SOC 1 Predictions and News
JJ Huddle Division 6 State Poll (Preseason) has the Oaks at number 1 in Region 21 ahead of Valley, Newark Catholic and company, and number 8 overall in Ohio Division V1.
I know these polls and and especially pre-season ones along with a dollar will get you a cup of coffee but nonetheless the Oaks are getting some love from those responsible for putting together the projections.
Good luck Oaks...how have some of their scrimmages gone? Can anyone who has went give us an update on how they look?

Getting to that level is a extraordinary feat no matter what school your attending! The Gerald kid would get looked at from a D1 school if he played for the school of the blind! His size alone is half the battle; if he has a clue on the game and is strong... then he has the door opened for him! East is just lucky Portsmouth didn't want him, for whatever dumb--- reason they had. East didn't make him the player he is.. his parents and his own self-discipline did that!Captain Awesome wrote:Sciotoville Community would have to be my favorite in SOC 1 play. Now.. Will Sciotoville Community Schools have him ready academically? Staying at a school like Ohio State is 100 times harder! I wish Mr. Gerald all the luck in the world!
As for has anyone from a SOC I or II school ever played at a D1 school? In the 60's Notre Dame had a player by the name of Chuck Ealey who played D1 ball. Can any of you name the college? He also played Canadian Football and was Rookie of the Year. He was coached by non-other than, Wheelersburg & N.D. legendary coach Ed Miller!
