all I am saying is in 2013 the defense had 2 , 3 and sometimes 4 people on those 2 players so therefore that produced NOTHING , ZERO,tigercannon71 wrote:Only 1 guy can carry the football at a time. How do you expect to use all 6 of these so called playmakers at once?
Go with your stat that 2 players had ball 80% of time and we had a bad season. That proves my point that A. We only have 2 playmakers because if we had more we wouldve spread the ball out to more guys and B. The offensive gameplan was flawed because you need to set up your playmakers to make plays, and C. Need more out of the line to help playmakers make plays.

That happens in every offense a good defense will key on the main players. The offensive coordinators job is to come up with a plan to fool the defense in order to open up plays for the offensive stars. Then its up to the offensive line to block to open holes for those stars to shine. Its starts with a good offensive scheme.

Re: WEEK 1 IRONTON @WHEELERSBURG-AUG 29
tigercannon, i hear what your saying. i agree with most of it, maybe see a few things a little different, and i agree the T is a power offense per say, but what makes it effective is the misdirection that goes with the power. i believe the misdirection is what ironton has gotten away from the last 10 years or so. the little things like everyone more or less doing the job their positon calls for to completion and i think that is where i have some of the issues with the coaching. for instance, when you run a basic play like "T54," its a handoff to the left halfback but first you gotta fake to the full back , then the qb is reversing back out, "Tfullback54" exact same formation, however now we are giving to the fullback in the 4 hole but then the qb continues down the line fakes to the right half back in the same 4 hole and the the left half follows the qb down the line like we are running an option. thats the beauty of the T formation you can run like 10 different plays out of the same formation. 56 is almost the same as fullback 54 just ran in 6 hole , and then there is 56pass where we do all the exact same thing and the left end sneaks out for a bomb, all out of the exact same formation. on top of all that there is different blocking assignments for each different play ran out of the same formation. a 17 or 18 year old linebacker has to be pulling his hair out at the end of the night. just like with the spread where it helps if you have 6 or 7 playmakers to be successful, it helps if you have that many in the T.

Ok before we continue the conversation we need to define playmaker as you guys are using it.

Re: WEEK 1 IRONTON @WHEELERSBURG-AUG 29
playmaker=any1 that can advance ball for net gain= QB, RB,WR, TE
if we use those other 4 the defense will never be able to key the 2 , if they continue to key the 2 then some of the other 4 will score a lot
if offense uses 60 plays per game and 48 of those are to 2 certain players then why would any defense not key those 2 they would only be wrong 12 times.

Thats the problem right there. You dont know what a playmaker is. A playmaker is a guy that is a danger to score or make a big play at any time.
Re: WEEK 1 IRONTON @WHEELERSBURG-AUG 29
It really all starts up front with the 5 down linemen doing their job and pushing people around, period.

myself, as big a tiger fan as I am, I'd have to give the burg the edge right now. because I know what kind of season they had last year. and pretty much know what they got back.--------------with that said the fighting tigers are reeling after 2 woeful seasons trying to find an identity, and just brutal scheduling. -----------I look for all this excitement over turf and stadium changes to fire up the young fighting tigers.it's gonna be tough with the first 3 on the road at wheelersburg, russell, ky and Amanda clearcreek----------then a home game to break in the new turf with the Ashland tomcats, before hitting the road again in week 5 to head to Portsmouth.-------seems everybody wants a piece of the fighting tigers after these last 2 years. but be careful what you wish for. if we don't produce this year, we are going to have big changes I figure. but don't count the fighting tigers out. I hope they have a comeback year, I'm saying 6-4 with a return to the post season right now.

Did you go to the 7 on 7 today at Raceland? If so how did it go?
Re: WEEK 1 IRONTON @WHEELERSBURG-AUG 29
Ironton won the 7 on 7 at Raceland today. Cause for some "hope" this season IMO.
