I would tell you that if Athens was willing to sign a say 4 year deal or so they would be on the schedule

Re: Ironton 2014
Actually, no. Most schools sign multiple year contracts. Ashland, Burg, Russell, when Gallia was on the schedule, Jackson, etc. Most schools want to play an entire cycle of student athletes. Two home and two away is the norm for most schools. I think Athens would be a good football and basketball opponent for Ironton over a longer stretch of time. Two games at Athens and two games at Ironton would be very nice for the kids and each schools fans. I always enjoyed officiating at The Plains back in the day.

Re: Ironton 2014
From an AD's standpoint I would say that is the only way to go. I know if I was Ad I would want it that way. The only thing I don't like about the Athens date is the ride up 93. I hate to see our kids go up that deer invested road more than once in a year. Other than that Athens is a good team for us to play. I would rather our AD find us something say up 23 like Valley, Piketon or Waverly.

Id like to see us get back into a schedule with Belfry. Those were always tough games.

Re: Ironton 2014
Besides Tyler Webb who was a starter, what other Freshmen from this past season will get playing time on the Varsity Team next season?

Re: Ironton 2014
Athens does not have week 6 open after next season. Logan returns to the Athens schedule in 2015 in week 1 replacing Gallia Academy, GAHS is moving to the week 6 slot in 2015. This is one reason Athens is having trouble filling the spot next season, it will have to be a one and done deal.Dinocrocetti wrote:I would tell you that if Athens was willing to sign a say 4 year deal or so they would be on the schedule

Re: Ironton 2014
We have 5 home games scheduled already for next season so playing on the road wouldn't matter to us.

As far as I know talks with SVSM never took place as far as football is concerned. The Irish are set to make the trip down next winter for another basketball game though.
